German Speedway Fan
From www.speedwaywolrd.tv The richest minute in motorsport will take place at VELTINS-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The final round of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) - the FIM German Speedway Grand Prix - will be held at the former FIFA World Cup venue, with the winner walking away with $100,000, the biggest in the sport’s history. The event, to be held on Saturday 13th October, will be the 100th Grand Prix since the Series’ conception in 1995 and the first time world championship speedway has taken place at VELTINS- Arena. Paul Bellamy, managing director – speedway, BSI, rights holders of the SGP Series, said: “This is very exciting for the Series. Not only are we adding another world class venue to the calendar, but to celebrate the milestone of the 100th Grand Prix with the richest first prize in the history of the sport is great for the world championship and will make the final round of the 2007 Series an unmissable event. “Bringing the Grand Prix to the VELTINS-Arena keeps in line with our strategy to showcase world championship speedway in the world’s great stadiums. It is the perfect backdrop for the richest minute in motorsport and a fitting finale to the 2007 season and the centenary Grand Prix.” To transform the VELTINS-Arena into a world championship speedway stadium a specially built track will be constructed, under the eagle-eye of three times world champion and FIM Race Director, Ole Olsen. Olsen and his team already build tracks at the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, and the FIM Dansk Metal Danish Speedway Grand Prix at PARKEN, Copenhagen, and will use this knowledge to build a world class track at VELTINS-Arena. “The track building team are looking forward to creating a first class track inside this great stadium,” said Olsen. “The final minute of the FIM German Grand Prix with a $100,000 first prize will be a fantastic climax to the 100th Grand Prix and I am sure the VELTINS-Arena will create its own chapter in the history of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series.” Olsen added: “I only wish I was young enough to give the top riders in the world a run for their money in the final race…$100, 000 may give me the incentive to get back on a bike!” Tickets for the Richest Minute in Motorsport, the FIM German Speedway Grand Prix, are on sale now via: Local (Germany): www.veltins-arena.de Tel: 01805 150 810 International: www.seetickets.com/speedway Tel: +44 1159 934 111 UK Only: 0870 143 2207

Sandie
Just done the sums and I reckon a car of 5, ferries, 1 night cheap hotels, tickets and fuel will work out at £60 each. These are VERY basic sums. Edited January 23, 2007 by Sandie

Rob B
Just booked our flights, £1 each way with Air Berlin to Dusseldorf, so with taxes and fuel surcharge it's £40 each, bargain! Question for maybe someone local, they are selling standing tickets for £20, where is the standing? Thought being a modern stadium it would be all seating. The terracing is normally behind each end or low in the corners, so it will be overlooking the bends I should think.
Subedei
“The track building team are looking forward to creating a first class track inside this great stadium,” said Olsen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's all a dream, a delusion now. When will Olsen realise his temporary tracks are an abomination and an abortion?

Sandie
I have just had a play on Seetickets. This site says it offers you the best available seats. I got: £75 Block O - Start/finish line £56 Block M - 1st corner £45 Block L 1st corner £36 Block D2 Back straight / D1 backstraight and C2 Backstraight As Rob says - nothing about where the standing is - possibly 3rd/4th bend as no seats available there. But who knows??!!!c
Algerrie
It's a pity they changed the dates - we had hoped to fit in the Munich Beerfest in the same trip! Al Edited January 23, 2007 by Algerrie

So that means 1st/2nd bend. Edited January 23, 2007 by Hazzman
spanner47
The biggest ever prize for a speedway meeting and it's on a temporary track, i just hope the $100,000 is won by the best rider and not lost by some poor sod hitting a rut. Bad decision b.s.i., the biggest prize in the history of the sport should have been raced on a PROPER track. Nevertheless i've booked front row seats and my hotel, so lets hope it will live up to all the hype it's gonna get over the next few months
