Sandie
Nice drop of weather down your way yesterday, Rod? Should take care of the Dust. The Todd is flowing, we're cut off! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had a text from the Schleins this evening saying it was raining which is great after the drought and forest fires. But has now left the titles in jeapody. Fngers crossed. Taken from Gillman speedway website - Solo Championship Confirmed As Saturday Night Gillman Media posted Friday January 19, 2007. The South Australian Solo Championship, with almost half the field from last weekend's Australian Championship, is confirmed as Saturday night, 20 January, not Friday night as The Advertiser has incorrectly printed in our advert. Defending champion Rory Schlein, and Australian Under 21 Champion Chris Holder, will start as joint-favourites, but will face tough opposition from the likes of Matthew Wethers, Tom Hedley, Cory Gathercole, Cameron Woodward, Robert Ksiezak, Trevor Harding, Tyron Proctor to name a few. Only four can make the final. Edited January 19, 2007 by Sandie
Guest Sir Lunchalot
We have the same problems here in Victoria with the rain. It rained very heavily where I am overnight and more forecast today and I have fingers crossed for the Vic Sidecar Championship which is due to be run at Broadford tomorrow. I just checked the weather bureau site for the forceast for Seymour (20 miles from Broadford) and it says Seymour Friday A few showers and the risk of a thunderstorm. Possible smoke haze. Moderate north to northeasterly winds. Max 35 Precis: Shower or two. Possible thunderstorm. Saturday Shower or thunderstorms. Min 21 Max 34 Not a great outlook to be honest. Just what we didn't need after the first round of the title was rained off two weeks ago. Here's hoping it's dry for at least 3 hours tomorrow afternoon and if it does rain hopefully the temperatures will be warm enough to dry out the track so we can get some racing in. spiderweb
Hi Lunchy hope your taking it easy! Same situation for Gillman the forcast says 55 mil of rain for Sat if that happens everywhere will flood because the grounds so hard . Ah well the forcast has been wrong before so we will have to wait and see! Cheers Rod
Guest Sir Lunchalot
And if Broadford got called off I was going to make a quick dash over to Gillman but looks like that's not a great plan either. Looks like a nervous day watching the sky with hopefully no black stuff heading our way. And BFD, what have you heard about the Ashley Jones meeting ? Other than one post on here by Main Man I have heard nothing about any planned rerun. The calendar down south looks mighty crowded too. Jason Lyons testimonial 27th Jan, teams meeting (Vic/SA/NSW) at Gillman, Ron Johnson meeting in WA 3rd Feb, Vic Solo title at Mildura 10th Feb, Broadford club day 11th Feb, National U21's at Gillman 16th & 17th Feb, Solos at Undera 24th Feb and by then most of the big boys will be back in the UK anyway. To squeeze it in someone else would have to give up a meeting, or we would be running with some very tired riders, or we would be running with a reduced quality field. I really hope it happens but I can't say I'm overly optimistic especially seeing I've heard nothing thus far.

Rory Schliein 23333=14 Chris Holder 33332=14 Cory Gathercole 22233=12 Robert Ksiezak 23123=10 Aaron Summers 12321=9 Trevor Harding 02223=9 Tom Hedley 13302=9 Matt Wethers 312 dnf 2=8 Cam Woodward 3 dnf 131 =8 Tyron Procktor 12121=7 James Holder 31011=6 Ario Bugeja 20012=5 Elliot Myers 01210=3 Brock Gates 01 fell dnf dns=1 Ben Walsh //1/dnf/=1 Brendan Mackay 1 fell taken to Hospital chest pains Overall a good night in tricky conditions 50 mill of rain in 24 hours but the track was good slick and slow but all the track was usable some of the less experianced riders wisley took it easy or struggled with the conditions but all the top guys raced hard with plenty of passing . Highlights Heat 4 Holder gated 1st with Hedley then Schliein Hedley around the outside for the lead then Shliein around them both and so on. finishing order Holder Shliein Hedly Heat 5 Harding and Ksiezak side by side 3 laps Ksiezack winning. Heat 6 Brock Gates 3rd crossed up a bit in front of Brendon Mackay whos front wheel lifted and hit Gates both riders and bikes into the turn 2 fence Mackay off to Hospital chest pains. Brock Gates remounted for the restart but struggled as he did for the rest of the night. He had a couple more falls at the back of the pack. Heat 13 Another race where they swapped positions Wethers out in front lost chain and locked up the back end of the bike dnf. Schliein winning. Heat 15 Tom Hedley in front and looking good Woodwood did a slide job on him and lifted the front wheel Hedley backed off, he would have been in the fence if he did not Woodwwood through Hedley by the time he recoved was last! Thought the ref may have intervined on this one but the result stands . Heat 20 Woodwood whilst leading Schliein fell remounted to just get 3rd Schliein won. Final Top Race Holder out gated Schlienin but took a mid track line into truns 3-4 Schiein underneath him and gone to win easy in the end. Overall a top nights racing by the boys in difficult conditions . Rorys 4th SA Title well done. Good on Gillman to for all the work they did so the meeting could go ahead.
