Don't know much about Glanz (Peter's lad) but Bridger is entertaining, and quite good if you can stop him doing wheelies before his races. I hope you are going to this meeting, iris123, 'cos I need the details for my website, please! P.S In the Swedish team, I've never heard of Tony Olsen OR Per Olaf Larsen!! Also, I thought that this was a U-21 match - Niklas Klingberg hasn't got a nipper of the same name, has he? iris123
What is this meeting, has it actually got an official title or just a kind of challenge <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just a challenge meeting. They normally have some sort of challenge to end the season.A few years back it was against a Luxo Stars select,Lodz and Outrup.Last year was a pairs event with pairs from Sweden,Denmark,Poland etc .The 6 best riders will be in a 6 lapper for the Golden Viking helmet though Well, Betson is ex-Wimbledon (say no more, pure talent, obviously!) while Roynon is possibly the classiest reserve in the Premier League. Don't know much about Glanz (Peter's lad) but Bridger is entertaining, and quite good if you can stop him doing wheelies before his races. Also, I thought that this was a U-21 match - Niklas Klingberg hasn't got a nipper of the same name, has he? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Neither have i TMW.Looked for Tony Olsen in the Swedish averages and couldn't find him either. But i am reliably informed that Jonny Andersson(never heard of either, but did find him in the average list) will be riding,so maybe Tony Olsen won't be there Just wondering if the unknown riders are Klingbergs Örnarna team-mates Tomas Olsson & P.O.Klasson? And i think the English team is the only proper U21 line-up.Kröger is definitely over 21as is Tobi Kroner, plus Ulrich is also mid 20s.Still good experience for the young lads to ride on the continent on a big German track Edited October 6, 2007 by iris123

TwoMinuteWarning
Thanks for that, iris123. Not often Germany win a meeting so convincingly! Bridger a bit disappointing for England, but great experience for Conference League riders Betson and Glanz. Will you be in Gelsenkirchen? iris123
Yes,i was expecting more from Lewis, but he was in second behind Tobi Kroner when he fell. And he came from the back into second. Then his chain went at the gate in the other heat.He did make the move of the meeting though, faking to go round the outside then cutting back and taking Max Dilger on the inside.Adam Roynon was the star of the side. All the Brits had trouble gating, but Adam was like a young Stuart Robson the way he fought his way through.Betson got better as the meeting went on,but he hurt his neck in the fall. Not badly though. He was pleased to have beaten Klingberg.Nicki Glanz looked well off the pace though. Not sure if that was just down to the bike And Tobi was leading when he had problems in his other heat or the score would have been even bigger for Germany And yes i will be in Gelsenkirchen. You with Mr Snackette and Kev/Jo again? TwoMinuteWarning
Yeah, Roynon's a tiger , reserve at Rye House, but would be a heatleader at a couple of teams. Pleased to see Danny did OK, his first European meeting as far as I know. Glanz is quite inexperienced, though he rode in a European U-19 Champ qualifier early this season. Yes, I'll be with all the "old" TP faces at Gelsenkirchen, hope to see you there. Hope the crowd won't be lost in that fairly big stadium! Aries
A full house from Tobi i see he's finishing the season in good form. He's had a fantastic season and proved an awful lot of people wrong who labelled him a "no hoper" at the start of the season. He's a terrific lad as well and always pushing himself to improve all the time. At the end of meetings at Foxhall he's always back out on the track testing and trying to find a better formula right up until the curfew while others are packed up and long gone. Delighted with him and the sooner he puts pen to paper on his Ipswich contract for next season the happier us Suffolk folk will be.
iris123
Well i didn't label him a "no hoper",but i am certainly one of those that was surprised at just how well Tobi went.Throughout the past few years Tobi always done well when i saw him,but never stood out.He would finish 3rd or 4th-ish in the German U21 meetings. For me he was always behind Smoli,Hefe and Matze Schultz at least.Even when i talked to him after the stint with Oxford,he said he wanted to go into the PL.But he proved a lot of people wrong. And one thing you have to say about Tobi is he always seems to have a big smile on his face. It was only a few years back when Smoli started at Coventry there were comments here like "Why sign a German? They have never been any good in Britain!"Well now there are a few making a mark in the EL.And the basis for a decent team in the SWC qualis in the next few years. It will be a real battle again next year for the Gelsenkirchen wild card

iris123
Isn't German Speedway getting boring with always the same riders ? Riders like Patrick Hougaard, Marcin Sekula are in almost every meeting in Germany <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is why i go up to Denmark so much It looks very much like the line-up for last years meeting. But i guess two things happen.First the promoter uses his own riders.Schultz,Haupt,Busch,Kowalski and Hougaard are all Stralsund riders.Sekula is sponsored by some of the people over there as well.Plus you get a group of riders who you can trust will turn up and put on a good show. There is nothing worse than seeing riders in the line-up and when you get to the meeting they are not there. It is the same with though with the Sievers family and how often they have Tero Aarnio in their meetings And of course Güstrow have a friendship with Holsted while Brokstedt have the same sort of thing with Outrup. So you will often get their riders at meetings.Gjedde,Bager and now Klindt at Brokstedt for instance. But like you say,a lot of fans ask "why always the same riders?"At least next season we will have a few FIM/UEM meetings where we will see different riders
