I'll take a leaf out of f-s-p's book here :D

A number of changes happening for the new season. For a start there will be only one Bundesliga. The second league has been scrapped and a few teams have dropped out of the Bundesliga. As far as rule changes go the team limit is now at a very low 30 points.Only one foreign rider per team, plus there must be a German U21 +U19 rider in each team. The U19 riders will compete in their own heats against each other.

Bundesliga fixtures are as follows:

01.04 Diedenbergen 42,Brokstedt 32,Landshut 26,Neuenknick 25

08.04 Neuenknick 26,Güstrow 30,Diedenbergen 40,Brokstedt 29

01.05 Brokstedt 31,Pfaffenhofen 22,Neuenknick 34,Güstrow 38

06.05 Pfaffenhofen 24,Olching 26,Güstrow 35,Landshut 41

02.06 Landshut 39,Neuenknick 37,Olching 25+2 ,Pfaffenhofen 25+3

22.07 Olching 44,Landshut 40,Pfaffenhofen 25,Diedenbergen 17

12.08 Güstrow 35,Diedenbergen 26,Brokstedt 22,Olching 43

03.10 Final(venue to be decided)

Table

Landshut.....4meetings......9pts.....146 racepoints

Güstrow .....4 ......9.....138

Olching ....4.......7.......138

Diedenbergen 4 ....7 .....125

Neuenknick.. 4.......4....122

Brokstedt.... 4......4.....114

Pfafenhoffen 4.....2......96

And here are the averages the teams have to work with.

There will also be a league competed between 3 of the northern teams that dropped out,but in the British league format, rather than the 4tt Bundesliga format.

05.05 Teterow 30 v Stralsund 60

17.05 Wolfslake 51v Teterow 41

30.06 Stralsund v Wolfslake rained-off

21.07 Stralsund 59 v Teterow 34

04.08 Wolfsake 50v Stralsund 41

21.09 Teterow v Wolfslake

No idea yet of any restictions or the make up of each team. But at first glance and knowing the usual line-ups of these teams it looks quite promising. :D

Marcin Piekarski has signed for Wolfslake.Here.Seems quite a good young rider.Think i read before that Jernej Kolenko was looking forward to a good year in Germany,so expect him to be in the Wolfslake team as well

Press release from the 3 north east clubs.Here.Seems the only regs for team building are that one of the 6 riders must be a German U21.And it seems like 2 must be foreign, but no GP riders. Not so sure on the competition name though :D

This weekend we have the 2 day Indoor Speedway/Freestyle MotoX meeting in Kiel.Plenty of action.Looks like 5 hours each day, with an International freestyle tournament, junior speedway, sidecars,a Germany v Denmark match of sorts. The main attraction is a good quality line-up including Smoli,Bager,Skornicki,Møller,British interest in Simon Walker, indoor specialist Stephan Katt plus Night of Speedway winner Tobi Busch :D

What sort of surface do the speedway boys race on at Kiel, iris123?

Ha,ha,ha :(

Honestly don't know TMW.This is the first time speedway has been held there. From what i have heard it is usually just the freestyle jumps, but they decided to put speedway on as well. Will be going on sunday so i will find out then :)

Taken from the Stralsund web-site

In answer to your question TMW,it says here that the concrete floor of the hall will be used. And so that means the riders won't be using speedway tyres, but normal street tyres.Matten Kröger has tested it and everything is good.As it was i just caught a bit of a tv report from the test run,but only saw the freestyle jumps and a bit of an interview with Egon Müller.I thought the track looked very firm :D And there seems to be plenty of padding around the outside, rather than the wooden boards that are there at Neustadt for the NOS.I hope if they done a preview of the meeting, the tv crew will be there during the weekend and show some of the action sunday or monday

As you probably know, Doug, racing on concrete was tried here in the UK in the early 1980's. I went to see it at Wembley - the indoor arena, not the stadium - and while it was quite entertaining, it wasn't really speedway.

But as part of a mixed motorsport programme, it should be a bit of a novelty, anyway.

Pleased to hear that the 1983 World Champ is still around!

Racing wise disappointing on the concrete surface.Plenty of spills.Henrik,Roberto Haupt Jörg Tebbe and Simon Walker failed to finish the meeting :( The speedway became a bit drawn out.But Smoli and Stephan Katt must be commended for getting the crowd going.Smoli conducting a mexican wave from the top of the Freestyle jump ramp :D Stephan Katt complained a bit at the end that the atmosphere was only going for the jump guys, but i do have some understanding for that as they had 5 sections of about 10 minutes and it was action all the way. Those guys are amazing.Whereas the speedway was, well,a bit boring.A lot of people went out during the interval and never came back.Oh,just to add that Adam looked great in his first 3 heats winning them all,but had a spill and looked in a bit of pain in finishing the meeting.Kept out of harms way in the semi

And an update on yesterdays injuries.Seems Tobi has broken a couple of toes and Matten has quite a few broken bones in his knee as well as others.Like i said yesterday, speedy recovery

Some photos here :)

First time i have seen it tommy and i wouldn't rush to see it again.Pity, because we now have 4 indoor venues in the North of Germany.Kiel,Neustadt,Schwerin and Rostock. So there is the possibilty of a small indoor series in a way,but the Neustadt venues is a Horse jumping hall.So that suffers as the track is very soft. That means the gaps between heats is quite long as they have to prepare the track after every 2 heats.Plus Kiel is very difficult as well, this concrete surface took a lot of getting used to.Infact the juniors seemed to get to grips with it better. There wasn't an awful lot of close racing. They were talking of doing it again next year though.Schwerin + Rostock i haven't been to,so don't know what or how the tracks there hold up.

As for concrete tracks,as TMW said the indoor track at Wembley was concrete. Not sure if that was the only one.Maybe TMW knows more.I thought Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs were experimenting in the 70s with surfaces, when they seemed to be taking speedway around the world

All I know is that racing on concrete took place at the Wembley Arena each year from 1979 to 1983. The first one, at least, was promoted by Briggo and Mauger, I believe. I went in 1980, was somewhat unimpressed, and didn't return. But then I went to Telford once, and never returned - guess I'm a bit of a speedway purist!

There was also racing at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) at Birmingham in 1980 on a LATEX surface. It was a 3-day event, and several riders were injured due to the surface, though I wasn't there myself.

Speedway was back at the NEC in 1984 as part of a "Motorsport Gala" with moto cross etc, but was not very successful.

I DO enjoy the Brighton meeting as a bit of fun each year, but then that is on a shale surface.
