The air fence has been installed in Ljubljana today! A really gorgeous weather has made if a perfect day for the installation as Tony Briggs together with his team and the help from AMTK Ljubljana put up a nice yellow and black fence that will improve the safety on our track and hopefully prevent some injuries.

I posted some pics on our website, more to follow later this week: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...3&Itemid=62

It wasn't such a good weather in Slovenia today as it was yesterday, but that didn't stop Tony Briggs and his team to install the 2nd set of air fence in Slovenia - Krsko was done today! We've posted some pics for you to see how it was done on our website: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...4&Itemid=62

There is possibility to order the air-fence in some Polish companies - the costs are for sure not so high. All these air-fences have the FIM homologation for speedway, long track and grass track.

I don't think the costs of air fences of Polish companies are much lower that those of Tony Briggs. I know approximately how much Gorican (Pavlic) paid for Admar air fence and it's pretty similar to what we paid for Briggs' one.

Air fences that are used in GPs (made in Australia) are of course much more expensive. The cost is around 50.000 euros.

@Tomaz

German clubs are afraid of the costs for such an air-fence. Can You say how much it cost the Slovenian clubs (in Euros) and how did they finance this?

I can't tell you exactly how much it cost us, but we've managed to negotiate a good price. It depends on what is included in the deal, if the transport is included, how much in advance you pay, if you also order the protective cover etc. But usually Briggo's air fence costs around 30.000 euros (plus/minus a couple of thousand).

We had different sources of finances to pay for the air fence. They were mostly financed by clubs and their sponsors, some money was donated to all 3 clubs by our national federation and we also managed to receive an FIM subsidy.

As Briggo told me on Monday, after he finishes with the installation in Slovenia, he is off to Sweden later this week, where he will install his air fences in Motala, Malilla, Hallstavik and Vastervik. He also said that some german clubs contacted him recently and wanted an immediate installation. :)

Slovenian speedway season starts next weekend with first two rounds of Slovenian-Croatian-Hungarian junior championship in Ljubljana and Krsko. 8 Slovenian riders will participate, 4 Croatians and 4 Hungarians. We are up for a real pleasure as there are a lot of really talented riders in the field and I would say there will be at least 8 riders fighting for the podium.

Slovenians Sandi Conda (current Slovenian junior champion), Matija Duh (former Slovenian junior champion), Matic Voldrih (current vice champion) and Samo Kukovica (coming back after 1 year absence, this year on Kolenko's bikes) will be home favourites for the win. Croatians have a strong pair of Dino Kovacic and Nikola Pigac and Hungarians are sending their best two juniors Jozsef Tabaka and Roland Benko to Ljubljana and Krsko. What a quality field, can't wait!

The meeting in Ljubljana will also be very important for myself as I will be making a debut as the Clerk of the course. Wish me luck. :)

Here is the draw for both meetings:

12. Jozsef Tabaka MAD

13. Renato Cvetko HRV

14. Attila Lorincz MAD

15. Jasmin Ilijas HRV

I think that Hungarian junior champion will be the winner of their own junior championship.

There are 3 slovenian channels available free at Hot Bird (TV Slovenija 1, 2 & 3) - are they covering any speedway meetings ?

I am afraid not. These are the channels of Slovenian national TV station which is not really interested in speedway. The best we get from them are short reports from meetings in their news programme, but that's about it. The situation was much better a couple of years ago, when Ferjan was in the GP, and back then TV Slovenija broadcasted 1 hour of highlights from most of the GPs.

But we still get some live speedway these days in Slovenia, thanks to sport TV channels. Sportklub channel broadcasted GPs live last year, and Sport TV channel showed Swedish elite league live. These should continue this year. Last year a half hour magazine programme Speedway Mag was also produced and broadcasted on Sport TV, covering Slovenian speedway (national championship meetings), but these project stopped after just two months, due to problems with finances.

So Austria doesn't have junior champs together with Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary. Do you know if they will be any Austrian junior champs? Because I can't find any dates.

I don't think there will be Austrian junior championship. The only official competition in Austria this year is senior championship.

So how did it go then? No problems, I presume.

It went ok, no major problems. :) We had some problems with the starting gate, but that was sorted before the start of the practice. The meeting was run fast and smoothly. Some reruns were required because of the unsatisfactory starts, as the riders were moving before the starting gate. There were also some crashes, but without serious injuries and, luckily, the air fence wasn't tested. There were no protests to the decisions of the referee so I didn't have much to do during the meeting, except for the control over our officials, who did their job very good. The weather was perfect, it was a nice sunny day with the temperatures around 23 degrees.

All in all, I think it was a good meeting, with smooth organisation and a competitive racing. The jury was satisfied with the organisation and didn't have any major complaints. :)
