arnieg
Final standings: 1. Zagar 152 2. Pavlic 145 3. Santej 131 I think that makes it nine times that Santej has been runner-up in the Slovenian Championship without ever winning it (He's also been third twice)

tomazpozrl
Slovenian speedway season has finished already, but that doesn't mean that our authorities are resting. I have some good news to report. Following the nasty crash of Jernej Kolenko in April which forced him to retire from speedway racing, all three Slovenian speedway clubs have decided to buy the air fences!!! They will first be installed in Ljubljana, probably in March next year, and Krsko in Lendava will follow in April or May. This obviously means that the safety will increase at our tracks and, hopefully, the air fences will be able to prevent some injuries. tomazpozrl
Taken from Matej Zagar website: Fund for Jernej Kolenko Matej opened a special transaction account intended for voluntary contributions for Jernej Kolenko. As it is known, he has experienced a difficult accident in Prelog, which had prematurely terminated his sport carrier. Matej calls on all to contribute to the fund and help Jernej. Matej said: "I've opened the transaction account where people can, if they wish to, contribute money to Jernej. Because of the accident he can no longer race and he was left without a job and any incomes. So I decided to help him and try to mitigate his position. We have been a strong competitors on the track, but on the other hand, we were also friends. " "In a sign of good will, I already indicated at the expense of 500€, however I expect that others will respond too and contribute to this fund. Jernej has been active number of years and has brought to speedway in Slovenia and other countries many successes. Therefore, it seems to me right, that now we help him. Vicar
Do you know why Austria will not take part in Individual Champs? I don't think so they have enough riders to make seperate champs. What will be the format in team championships? How many teams in one match?
tomazpozrl
I've heard the official reason why Austria will not take part, but I don't want to reveal it publicly. They decided to organize their own open championship, but I'm not sure where will they get the riders from. As I wrote, league format will be used, two teams against each other in each match, with 7 riders in each team, similar to polish leagues. tomazpozrl
Speedway.si is deep at work at the moment, with more and more interviews done in recent days. Here are the latest ones: Matic Voldrih, current Slovenian U21 vice champion and one of the strong favourites for this year's title: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...0&Itemid=91 Aljosa Remih, young rider from Krsko, a big talent who hasn't yet fulfilled the expectations: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...1&Itemid=91 Maks Gregoric, probably the fastest rising star in Slovenian speedway: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...2&Itemid=91 Nejc Malešič, newcomer from Ljubljana: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...3&Itemid=

Is this for club teams or for national teams, thats Croatia v Slovenia? How many teams take part in this 'league'?

This competition is meant for national teams, Slovenia vs Croatia etc. At the moment it is still not known how many teams will take part. As I wrote, Slovenia and Croatia are confirmed, but there is still no official news from Hungary.
Bavarian
How about inviting Romania, they need some more international competition and they do have a nice speedway stadium at Braila.
tomazpozrl
Hungary has now expressed their will to join us in this team competition. We are still working on the dates, but it looks like this will be a three team competition. Bavarian, I think Romania is not an option for us, because it's too far to sent our riders there. This competition is meant for countries in Central Europe which are close together and therefore travel expenses are not very big. Italy and Germany are among the candidates to join us in the future. tomazpozrl
Some more news from Slovenia. The new season is now well under way with practice sessions on all three tracks. We've posted some reports, riders comments, videos and pics on our website: - http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...4&Itemid=83 - http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...8&Itemid=83 - http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...2&Itemid=83 As I have reported back in November air fences will be installed on all three tracks in Slovenia this year. This will actually be done during the next week. Tony Briggs and his team of 'No Pain Barriers' is already in Slovenia and has started with the installation in Ljubljana today. This should be finished tommorow and then Krsko is next on Tuesday with Lendava being done on Wednesday. We'll hopefully be able to arrange pics from all three tracks and post them on our website http://www.speedway.si
