tomazpozrl
Just out of interest young Pozrl, is Ferjan a Slovenian or Hungarian these days? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is still a Slovenian. AFAIK, he's been trying to get a Hungarian passport for a couple of years now, but he hasn't suceeded so far. Yesterday I found out that Hungarian motorcycling federation again sent a request to Slovenian federation to give them approval to issue Ferjan a Hungarian racing licence. According to the FIM rules, this is needed when one national federation wants to issue a licence to a rider who is a citizen of another country. Article 70.2.1 of the FIM Sporting code says: A FIM Licence may be issued to a foreign rider, after the FMN to whom the application is made has obtained the approval (release) of the FMN of the country of which he is a national or in which the applicant is a permanent resident. Such approval will be given only once for the period of validity of the licence. Requests for any additional international licence for the same period to another FMN are prohibited. Because of that request, I think that Ferjan still doesn't have Hungarian passport, otherwise Hungarian could issue a licence to him without the approval of Slovenian federation. tomazpozrl
There is a big meeting coming up in Krsko on May 19th. It's a SAX Speedway Super Cup 2007 and is organized by a local company called SAX. Here is the lineup announced so far: Jason Crump Jaroslaw Hampel Bjarne Pedersen Rune Holta Lee Richardson Jesper B. Jensen Charlie Gjedde Grzegorz Walasek Joonas Kylmäkorpi Aleš Dryml Lukaš Dryml Jurica Pavlic Matej Žagar Matej Ferjan Izak Šantej Apparently the organizers invited all the top riders in the world, but some of them were not interested in coming to Krsko (Adams, Jonsson, ...). There is one spot in the lineup left to be filled, and from what I've heard they held discussions with Greg Hancock and Tomasz Gollob. tomazpozrl
Are Slovenian fans surprised (and perhaps upset?) by Jurica's nomination or was it expeceted? Should be getting a big turnout from the Croats then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, we are not really surprised, because we knew that Jurica was one of the favourites to receive this wild card. What was more interesting was the whole story around nominations for this WC spot. AMD Krsko, the organizers of GP of Slovenia, wanted Pavlic to get the wild card, but Slovenian federation AMZS rejected their proposal, claiming that they want Slovenian rider to get the chance to ride in Krsko. AMD Krsko was very upset with AMZS who then nominated Izak Santej to the FIM. But Croatians reacted quickly and nominated Pavlic as a candidate for wild card spot and as it seems SGP commision (or should that be Ole Olsen?) agreed with them and gave Jura a chance to taste the GP series. Slovenian fans have different opinions about this situations. Some say that wild card for Slovenian GP should go to Slovenian rider and others say that Jurica will definitely bring more crowd to Krsko than Santej or Kolenko would. In any case, it will be very interesting to see what Pavlic can do in this meeting. Edited August 30, 2007 by tomazpozrl

tomazpozrl
This should go into "Slovenian news 2008" but I couldn't be bothered to open new topic. AMTK Ljubljana riders had an excellent practice session in Ljubljana yesterday. All riders were practising really hard for over 2 hours, including Matej Zagar, Jernej Kolenko, Ales Kraljic (returning to the track after 2 years), Maks Gregoric and Matic Voldrih + 4 juniors (among them 4 times Slovenian scooter champion Beno Lipnik). Around 100 photos from the practice can be seen here: http://speedway.si/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=
