Seb the Snail
I would love it to be Leigh, as this really is last-chance saloon, but realitically I can see a repeat of this year, with Crump way too consistent for the others and a melee developing for the other podium positions. Crump 1st with any 2 of Hans, Leigh, Nicki and Greg for the silver and bronze. Zagar and Andreas best of the rest.
BigFatDave
Crump notwithstanding, Mr Andersen has got the future world champ written all over him. Quite sure he'll get there one year, even if it's not 07. But I'm convinced Nicki Pedersen's suspect temperament will get the better of him and prevent him winning further titles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As for Nicki P, he's under a Suspended Sentence for SWC does that carry over to SGP? I'm not sure if he'll ever grow up! Maybe he needs to take the blinkers off?
Mr. Clemens
My tip is Nicki Pedersen simply because he served notice of his intentions in the last Grand Prix of 2006 He will be happy if people concentrate on Hans Andersen while he works in the background building up his scores and taking the crown

barrow boy
I just don't know about Andersen. He certainly had a point to prove last year. And he proved it. But he wasn't left out of the GPs for spite. There was a reason. That reason was he'd under-performed in 2005. And he wasn't setting the world alight after he'd confirmed his place for 2006. Could he challenge? Yes. But he could also revert to the under-performing Andersen of 2005. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was still better than Lee R, Pepe P & Nils KI but they got in and gues what they all under performed as we all knew they would so Hans A under performing didn't come into it. Money talks I suppose.
barrow boy
I think the man to watch out for could be Andreas Jonsson. The guy has so much natural ability and talent - possibly, probably more than Crump, but has he what it takes? Gollob had the talent, just like Jonsson, but he never took the crown. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> AJ only does well on the tracks he likes. Same goes for TG. JC,NP,GH invariably do well on all types of tracks. That's why they are the top 3.

Money talks I suppose. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't have had Messrs Nicholls or Richardson in the GPs last season. Andersen didn't perform in 2005 and was replaced by Iversen, who subsequently didn't perform in 2006 and has been replaced by Andersen. Tomasz Chrzanowski didn't perform in 2005 and was replaced by Protasiewicz for 2006, who didn't perform and has been replaced by qualifier Jagus. Now, after two years of failure Richardson has been replaced by Harris. It seems only the pauper prince Nicholls is immune from paying the price for failure. AJ only does well on the tracks he likes. Same goes for TG. JC,NP,GH invariably do well on all types of tracks. That's why they are the top 3. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jonsson seems to perform at his best when the tracks aren't in the best of conditions - Malilla, Cardiff and Latvia, for example. Gollob on the other hand, seldom shows any interest in such conditions. Both have the talent, but it seems something else is missing. Jonsson could make a run for the title and he's my "outsider", but I think it'll be a one Crump race.

I'd include HA (now that brings back memories!!) as a rider who can handle any track.

If he stays focused 100% and brings in someone with race experance he could be unstoppable but lets see

I know this as I was next to them getting a drink at the time, like you say though it was back in 2004. I don't hate him but I will admit I didn't like him at the time very much, yet that is in the past and is now part of speedway history. I wish him every success with his GP campaign in 2007. sjw ministerofport
I hope who ever wins next year gives the same commitment as Jason has done in 2006, as for Jason himself good luck to him again for next year. Nicki for me is the one who might beat him, why because I saw the mess his arms were in and don't know how anyone can say that he was at his best mid GP's last year, also his less aggressive manner to me is a sign that he is more sure of his own abilities.I would love a Brit to win and still think that Scott can move to a higher level. Gooed luck to them all I say so long as they give us good racing.
21st century heathen
Except now it looks like SC has mutated into SB. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I noticed that. He'll bee a fully fledged Cov fan soon. He won a couple of GPs last season, which is, I believe, more than even Greg Hancock managed. And it's hard to imagine Nicki P gifting GP wins to Crump as easily as Hancock did a couple of times last season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There were a couple of times I was screaming at the tv for Greg to squeeze Crump out. As with the first GP last year, Nicki wouldn't have given Crump the room to just ride past so easily. But I'm convinced Nicki Pedersen's suspect temperament will get the better of him and prevent him winning further titles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure if that was tongue-in-cheek, but Nicki is a much better all reound rider these days. He's calmed down since his early years. A bit like Gollob. He was a lethal weapon when he first came on the scene. I would love it to be Leigh, as this really is last-chance saloon <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We've been saying it's his last chance for years. I think it's too late for Leigh to win it now. He should make another top 5 in a solid season, but he seems to lack the extra little bit of something you need to take the championship. It's a shame that he's never really had a proper run at a title, because he's been one of the best league riders for a long time now. Hazzman
Now, come on young fellow, I never once doubted Jonsson's talent or ability. I'm being consistent. He has the ability, he has the talent, but has he what it takes? That's always been my view. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's the only rider I idolise. Incredible, I know there is a few plastic Danes around and I criticise them but I have to be a plastic swede when it comes Jonsson. Watching him around the Mecca Of Speedway is simply awesome, whilst the Brits have this 'dip', although they comes in my thoughts, Jonsson is the Rider!! My brother who often dips in and out of watching Speedway loves the guy. Asked me to put on the Bydgoszcz round of the GP Series 2006 yesterday. So he could see some proper moves. I reckon the hierachy of Champions will be Crump, N.Pedder, Jonsson. I fully hope Andersen finishes painfully 2nd in the series for the rest of his career. Harris I like a lot because he's eager to learn, he could be very erratic this year, could gain a rep like Jagus to be a very entertaining rider in some GPs and some foreign fans will love him. If he performs decent and has a good tilt at the qualifying system, he could be back. But if he learns and it takes a couple of years for all that learning to become assured confidence, it will prove its worth. Nicholls could go two ways Explode or Implode. Gollob I want to see a nice swansong with a win in Bydgoszcz. Zagar and Hampel to go quietly about their business into the Top 8. Bjarne looks like he's reached top of his potential/game, might even go the way of the Sullivan. As consistent as he is here, he's as erratic abroad. Liverstam
I think Jason Crump had a fantastic year in 2006 and just about everything went his way. Ofcourse he will be the man to beat in 2007, but I just can't see him being that superior again. Also, when someone raises the bar like Tony in 2005 and Jason in 2006 others will respond by upping their own game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nicki, Hans and Andreas running Jason very close in 2007. Leigh, Greg and Tomasz are out of it IMO. None of them will make top-three, probably not top-five either. Maybe I'm just hoping, but I have a feeling Andreas might just come of age in 2007 and seriously challenge for the podium. My prediction for 2007; 1. Nicki 2. Jason 3. Andreas
