Wally was runner-up to Freddie Williams in the 1950 World Final (his one and only big night appearance) at Wembley, scoring 13 points. I remember him well as a team member in 1947 and 1948 for Eastbourne and Hastings initially, then of course the epic years in West Ham's colours.
