Recommended Posts

Saturday, December 16, is youth day for American speedway. The U.S. National Under 21 Championship will be held at The Grand, at the Industry Hills Expo Center, in Industry, California. The winner will receive a spot in the World U-21 qualifying, next year, in Europe.

Also being held are the California Junior Championship (under 16) and the California Pee Wee Championship (under 8).

Further information about the meeting and the field can be found here:

Mark Williams will once again be providing a webcast, free of charge, to anyone in the world who would care to watch. A 250kbps connection is strongly suggested.

The webcast will commence around 11:30 Pacific Standard Time (California). That translates to 19:30 London time, 0630, Sunday, Sydney time and 22:30 Baghdad time. Racing begins at 13:00, California time.

What are peoples views on possible finishing order???, here is my assesment from what i have seen of he Dream Team;

3. TJ Fowler. Has all the ability in he world, can he keep the bikes in one piece??. Should be a Top three finisher.

19. Dale Facchini. Possibly the most improved rider on the Dream Team of 2006.

Dale could be a dark horse, less spectacular than his brother,he is the steady eddie

of the two, I will go for a Top Three, again if the bikes are right.

30. Tim Gomez. Tim is my missus,s favourite rider, and if he has fully recovered from the injuries he got whilst in the UK in 06, he should be a certain Top Three.

45. Dario Galvin. Dissapointing not to see Dario over here in 06, does not look to have made the progress expected of him this year. If he can put some decent starts together he will upset one or two.

201. Neil Facchni. Neill was a little dissapointing this year, can mix it with the best of his age group, can be spectacular, needs to add a little bit of consistency to his points scoring, maybe concentrate on the riding more than the ladies.

248. Brian Starr. Brian is another who falls into the Steady year on year improver rather than the spectacular. I feel with Brian he races more as a hobby than wanting to make a career out of it, though he has ability, again he can take points of the more favoured riders especially if he gates.

I cannot split the Top Three there are a few imponderables.

TJ. If his bikes are set up right, he will take all the beating, Dale again if his equipment is A1 he can get on the rostrum, and Tim his equipment will be right Gary will see to that, but the Knee??. Neil will he prove me wrong?? and take a Top Three from his brother, obviously i cannot comment on the other riders not having seen them.

All these guys are fantastic people, and great ambassadors for the USA, i hope they all come out of the meet fit and well, best of luck to them all, hopefully we will see them in the UK in 2007.

That is an outstanding assessment of today's race. I would just like to add a couple of wildcards. Justin Boyle, who was seriously injured last summer at Costa Mesa, will be racing today. He won the U-21 two years ago and, depending on his racing condition, could easily win the meeting. Also, Casey Donholt, from New York, could show very well if he puts together 4 or 5 good heats. Casey's only drawback will be his unfamiliarity with the track (he has only ridden it once before) and he will not be on his own equipment. We'll be looking a good showing today from Tim and, as you said, Gary will have him all set and ready to go.

Well I hope TJ Fowler can win this and get himself back on track towards what could be a great career.

Looking forward to seeing Krystal Cramer in the Youth Championship. A lady rider who could win this and will be a serious contender to move up in future years.

Also young Kurtis Hamill in the Pee Wee Races. Will be wearing his dads #104.

Good shout TNT133

Very good first ride from the young lady. Classic cutback on the 2nd bend.
