Bryn
New Wightlink Islander Cory Gathercole took the honours in the solo section of last Saturday night's meeting at Olympic Park, Mildura. He led the final from start to finish to head home Tom Hedley, Ryan Sedgman and Ben Welsh. The main event was the Atlas Sheds Sidecars Masters in which the Warren Monson / Marty Underwood partnership got the verdict in a hard-fought final ahead of Clint Mayes and Mark Lucas. Third spot went to Andrew German and Sean Colby who recovered from a fall in their first heat to qualify

Guest Sir Lunchalot
Ryan looked ok at Mildura. He headed home Cory Gathercole in one heat and wasn't disgraced although Tom Hedley and Cory were obviously that bit better over the course of the night. The track was "interesting" for the solos and that can't have made it a walk in the park by any means. Looks like he's still got a bit of filling out to do which will give him a bit more upper body strength but he's certainly one to watch for in the future. He's certainly got a shrewd mentor in his dad advising him and I can see him taking it one step at a time. Bryn also now appreciates how far it is from Melbourne to Mildura !! Ozyace
Hey Lunchy, i didn't know you were making the trip to Mildura. I think one of the big things with both Sedgman boys is that the family are very close to the Adams family. Can't be a bad thing getting taught how to ride speedway by 'The Book'. Guest Sir Lunchalot
Hey Lunchy, i didn't know you were making the trip to Mildura. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Neither did we until the Friday !! After the Ash Jones meeting was cancelled and following a few phone calls Bryn found out there were some hastily arranged solos riding at Mildura and we decided to head northwards for the weekend. Bryn got an interview with Cory so it all worked out well. The meeting wasn't that great to be honest but if we hadn't have gone we would have hung around home thinking "gee we should have gone" Bryn was intrigued by some of the place names along the way. I should of taken him up Tocumwal way and we could have gone through Congupna, Katamatite, Koonoomoo, Tallygaroopna, Wunghnu, Yarroweyah and Waaia !!
