treborbee
Its unbelieveble how strong the teams are in what is only the second league in Poland! On whats official Gorzow looks like they are favourites to go into Extra- league with a line up like this: Jesper B Jensen Magnus Zetterstrom Matej Ferjan Joonas Kylmakorpi David Ruud Pawel Hlib Andrzej Gluchy And also in their squad is: Niklas Klingberg Michal Rajkowski Thomas H Jonasson But my polish friend who lives in UK told me that Ostrow will also be very strong. Apparantly they will come up with a team like this: Peter Karlsson Charlie Gjedde Mariusz Wegrzyk Thomasz Jedrzejak Mark Loram Morten Risager Lubos Tomicek and have also in their squad got: Lukaz jankowski Mikael Max Liberski Brucheiser Both teams look very very strong and frightening if you compare them with the best Premier League teams in UK! well even if you compare them with the best EL teams in UK! Subedei
What about Gdansk and Rybnik? Gdansk can boast Bjarne Pedersen, Tomasz Chrzanowski, and Krzysztof Jablonski (European champion, lest we forget), while Rybnik have kept together the bulk of their squad from last season's Ekstraliga and have Chris Harris, Renat Gafurov, Rory Schlein, Rafal Szombierski, Martin Smolinski and Roman Povazhny. cwf
Are there any criteria as to which riders can sign for Polish div 1 sides or is it purely down to economics? Agree that a lot of these sides are really strong.

It used to be the rule that GP riders could only ride in the Ekstraliga, but that's fallen by the wayside now.
treborbee
I think thats correct though one of the juniors must be polish, and a team can have a maximum of 2 GP riders, this is why Wroclaw has let Hampel go this year because they had Crump and Hans! Rico
New info: Kenneth Kruse Hansen signed contract in TŻ Lublin...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pleased to see Lublin look like they are going to run this season as my contact there had suggested there wasn't going to be any league team there this season. Shame they have lost the likes of Pavlic though and I fear another season of struggle (but hopefully with a lot less injuries). Rico
Ja-Jacek
I need some information about Robert Petterson (website?, links?), who signed contract for my favourite GTŻ Grudziądz. I saw him in Rybnik in the Junior Swedish National Team... (Lindback substitute) I know that in 2006 he rode for Team Dalakraft, but this site is very poor and only in Swedish... Ja-Jacek
Thanks a lot Liverstam! Your answer is more I expected... For your (and all) knowledge: GTŻ Grudziądz squad for now - J. Krzyżaniak, P. Staszek, M. Puszakowski (came from Toruń), R. Jamroży (came from Wrocław), K. Brzozowski (came from Gorzów), A. Rymel (Czech), R. Pettersson (Swedish)... and it is not the end, I hope. MattK
How come so many top riders are dropping down into the Polish Liga I?
Mateusz
How come so many top riders are dropping down into the Polish Liga I? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Simple. It's much easier for them to score lots of points and wages for point are only a bit lower. So for example guys like B.Pedersen will make more money scoring about 15 pts in every match of Division 1 than doing average about 8 in Ekstraliga.
