Conkers
With the Santa Cup less than four weeks away, and the World Championship preliminary rounds just over a month away, the Ice Racing season will be in full swing soon. Therefore here is my usual plea: Is anyone planning a trip to Assen and/or Berlin or both? I will be at Assen for the full three days going out on Friday 9th and home on Monday 12th, then I'm in Berlin, out Saturday back Sunday. Will there be enough for a forum get together at either meeting?

toonarmy084
I will be at Assen from friday to sunday. They will run a rudolf thiese trophy on the friday night apparently with 24 invited riders in the old gp knockout system. I just hope one or 2 english riders will be there, then I wont have to pay!!!!

toonarmy084
Are you spannering for any of the Swiss riders this year in the Golden Spike? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ive had a few offers from a few riders including 2 gp riders but ive had to turn them down due to other commitments that keep me occuppied(sp) until the end of february, but im back in time for Assen and maybe ill be in Berlin. By the way I believe most of the British riders minus Graham Halsall are training in Funesdalen in Sweden this weekend. Graham i think is still in New Zealand. Conkers
Okay then, with four weeks to Assen and five to Berlin, are there any more of you who have decided to take the plunge to try and get to the Ice Racing? I know there are a few who usually decide after Christmas, so I'm sure that we can arrange something for both venues. Best place to meet in Assen is the Main Bar under the Grandstand, but in Berlin, I think it's a bit hit and miss, although the food stalls at the back of the first and second turns is quite good (although I'm sure someone can suggest a better place?). BTW Toonarmy084 - send my best wishes to Mark for the Qualifier this year in Saransk (or Penza or Sterlitamak or Ufa or...... )
f-s-p
Put something blue&white on, from what I've counted there will be around 100 Finnish fans at the track!

Conkers
URGENT! If anyone is flying to Berlin with BA Connect I strongly urge to check your flights. BA have sold BA Connect to Flybe and have cancelled all BA Connect flights from the UK. (which includes my flight to Berlin next weekend) I only found out by seeing a news item in the business pages of the Manchester Evening News, as BA haven't bothered to tell anyone it seems! At the moment I'm scrabbling round for a cheapish flight but my trip to the final two rounds looks distinctly shaky!

Conkers
Luckily, LastMinute.com managed to change my flight for me to a KLM Flight via Amsterdam, after BA offered me a flight leaving Manchester at 1.15pm via Heathrow arriving in Berlin at 5pm, then leaving Tegal at 2pm Sunday arriving back in Manchester at 5pm - thereby depriving me of seeing the Ice Racing! (They didn't see it as a problem) I also saw on a news website that BA Connect cancelled the return flights for many people in destinations they served, with BA offering them flights that either cut short their hols or would incur more cost staying until they could get the offered flight. Still I'll see you on Saturday Evening Wolfslayer, will you be in the usual places?
icanicant
Hi Conkers Wolfslayer, myself and the rest of the crew will be on the last bend on saturday and 2nd bed on sunday but if you are early enough we will be around the food stands and the pits up to an hour before kick off. There will be six of us so we should be fairly distinctive and 2 will have purple and black Hoosier jackets. we will be happy to meet up and talk to anyone. Easy jet still have tickets on the miday flight on friday and midday back on monday for round £100.00 return if anyone is making a late trip Edited March 8, 2007 by icanicant
full-throttle
see you there, i'll be wearing a black coventry bees coat, so be warned....lol
Conkers
Perhaps we should set the food stalls behind the first and second bends as the meeting point say an hour before the start time Saturday, then? One advantage of my changing flights is that I can have a leisurely stroll around the stadium before the first race in Berlin. As for Assen, the bar under the main grandstand is favourite if you are going there.
