Guest Schumi
In July 1991, Martin Goodwin was suspended for the rest of the season for smashing the window of the referee's box at Hackney in May. Can anyone tell me what this incident was about please? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not specifically but he wasn't impressed by a decision the ref had made. I was sitting a short distance away at the time. You could tell from his body language something was going to happen, but I don't think anyone was expecting that. There was a thread about it a while ago Norb. Might be worth searching. Try this book or speak to tmc. Edited November 27, 2006 by Schumi
norbold
Thanks Schumi. I found the thread, which was, naturally, entitled Andrew Silver. I should have read my old Backtrack magazines shouldn't I?
shazzybird
Great minds think alike I been looking back Through all my copies of the wonderful backtrack Contact through Lisa would like I say Get Martins report on that fateful day God Andrew Silver there's a blast from the past I visited him in hospital after he fell on his arse Sat in his bed with his leg in the air Showing his bits to the world without a care A young Shazzybird came over all hot Left nothing to the imagination you could see the lot Auntie dragged me away from the startling scene Had to tell all my friends about the Silver machine Edited November 27, 2006 by shazzybird
moxey63
From my forthcoming History of British Speedway book 1991-2006, I unearthed this. Rye House rider Martin Goodwin threw his crash helmet through the glass window of the referee’s box during his side’s match at Hackney on May 3. It came after his second exclusion of the night. Goodwin was subsequently suspended for the rest of the season and forced to pay £900 costs.
