Timbo
It's a pity I had already arranged to be in Sydney from January 9 - 14 From Aussie Solo Champs Date Changes for Linddales Solo Championship Series 22 Nov 2006 UNAVOIDABLE DATE CHANGES FOR LINDDALES LABOUR HIRE AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY MOTORCYCLE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES SYDNEY - November 22, 2006: Due to unforseen circumstances beyond the control of event promoters, changes have been made to the dates for the Linddales Labour Hire Australian Motorcycle Speedway Championship Series, featuring World Speedway Champion, Jason Crump. BigFatDave
Tell me about it Timbo, I've gotta redo all my F****** flights and accommodation - great. Sir Lunchalot, does this mean you'll make Mt Gambier?
Guest Sir Lunchalot
Yes, I'll be at Mt Gambier now hopefully. I better get cracking and do some bookings before the motels get booked out. The Mt Gambier round now being January 13 won't please the SA sidecar boys because that is the scheduled date for the SA sidecar title at Murray Bridge. Jancarz
Does anyone who runs Speedway ever stop and give a thought to the mugs who pay to watch it and may have spent money on flights etc specifically to follow the series?! Thats the cost of 2 internal flights wasted now not to mention the fact that I'm flying into Melbourne specifically because it was nearer to Mildura where the series starts (or was supposed to!) when flying to Sydney would have been the easier and cheaper option in the first place. Timbo
The same sort of thing happened with the ill-fated Australian GP at Wayville a few years ago I sometimes wonder why they release dates when they are not confirmed. Surely they must realise that people book flights and accommodation way ahead of the events. I for one will now miss out on the 2 rounds of the series (Newcastle and Sydney) that I had planned around a family holiday in the eastern states. BigFatDave
I've just spent 7 hours on the phone and net swapping bookings etc. This little jaunt is now gunna cost me about $1000 over what I'd originally planned, plus I'll be in Sydney for the last Test - great - fullapoms! I love it when a plan comes together - NOT! Actually I was surprised at how helpful everyone was (Except Jetstar - Ozzie answer to Ryanair)(Took me half-an-hour to put the Phone back together - I felt like Russell Crowe). Timbo, Jancarz, Lunchie I'm hard to miss, coming from Darwin I'll probably be the one in the Overcoat and Thongs with the Suck More Piss T-shirt underneath - I'll shout yers a Crownie if I spot ya. Remember, into each life some rain must fall, and Wet Season's coming right up!

I feel really sorry for all you guys that have spent money already, I hope you can keep your losses to a minimum. Hope they had the decency to let the riders know. I can hear the language from the Schlein household now, I know Mummy Schlein booked all the tickets and accomodation 2 weeks ago, and was very pleased that was another job finished. I said I would call her tonight (about fan club things) not sure its safe to now - she may be a little p*****d
ballinger
My wife is also aggrieved to learn that there's Championship Speedway on in Sydney the week we are there. Having promised her a completely Speedway free holiday Down Under, the chance to see Crump, Adams, Scotty, Roo Boy and Steady, etc in action will be too appealing too miss. So thats the Ashes, the Bridge Climb, and Speedway on consecutive days. Seriously though, to amend the schedule at 6 weeks notice is really not on, I've other friends who'd booked to fly from Sydney to Mildura via Melbourne, for the Mildura round, and now ofcourse those plans have gone to pot. Timbo
A rumour on Oz speedway Yahoo group is that there was a double booking at one of the venues - unbelievable
BigFatDave
No Double Booking Timbo, A logistical nightmare mate. Every attempt was made to avoid the clash you refer to, but it was impossible. Having a round in Sydney is the major reason we have both Crump and a major sponsor. It was Friday, Jan 5 or nothing. that's the word from Rod Colquhoun, Power Productions General Manager . . on the other hand we now have Friday at the Showground watching Crumpie, Saturday arvo burying the Poms at the SCG and Saturday night at Parramatta City Raceway watching the Sprinters! Doesn't get much better than this, every cloud, etc etc.

I'll have to show her what an old fart can get up to when I get down there - as soon as I drop a new donk in the Zimmer Frame.
