Timbo
Taken from Aussie Speedway Motorcycle Racing site Leigh Adams Leigh Adams has finally nominated to defend his Australian Championship crown. In the press report said Adams: "This year's title is going to be extremely tough. Whilst I wouldn't say the last two were walks in the park, certainly the field has greater depth than in recent seasons. I have to approach the title this year with a much different mindset." "2007 could possibly be my last year in Grands Prix. I have to give it everything I have. Already my focus is standing on top of the podium at the end of the season holding the #1 jacket. "Australia is where it all begins. Whilst it's nice to be equal with Aub Lawson on nine Australian titles, the Australian title is something that means a great deal to me and to win it once again in such illustrious company is something I would love to do." "The racing at every round is going to be the most intense domestic Speedway seen in Australia for at least five years," Adams asserted. "The Finals will be like a Grand Prix final, but just to make the Final is going to be difficult enough in the first place." The eight seeded riders (pending MA Commission approval) - in no particular order - are: Jason Crump (Qld) Leigh Adams (Vic) Scott Nicholls (UK) Simon Stead (UK) Steven Johnston (WA) Rory Schlein (SA) Travis McGowan (Vic) Chris Holder (NSW) Another four seeds to be added, plus an additional four from Linddales Labour Hire Australian Motorcycle Speedway Championship Series Qualifier. Ron Butler
Lets hope so ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that comment is a real coming from you. You who said on the Forum Names thread that you know all there is to know about everything. Surely we lesser mortals don't really have to 'hope so'. Surely you can tell us immediately. Why should we live in hope and uncertainty when, by your own admission, you already know, The Know. Won't you share with us, your friends, all you know about this Mr Know-it-All! MattK
Maybe if 2007 is Leigh's last year in the GPs, then it means he might be prepared to take a bigger hand in the running of Swindon.
eM_Pe
One of the 2008 and 2009 GP Tournaments will take place in Leszno. After so many years with Leigh riding for our Unia it is UN-BE-LI-VA-BLE, that our kangaroo-champion will miss both of them
youngy105
TBH.....I think it's a fair and honest decison that Leigh has made. You can't knock his talents on a bike and the way he presents himself is fantastic. I just think Leigh lacks the cutting edge to be World Champion. I do believe he is not ruthless enough when it counts...I don't mean resorting to dirty riding I just mean he lacks that oomph required to win a World Title. Good Luck Leigh with whatever decision you come to.
The Know
Now what can you possibly have against Leigh ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not keen on people that break things you lend them and then dont own up to it.

Subedei
It does look as though a couple of GP stalwarts, Leigh Adams and Tomasz Gollob, are set to step aside after 2007. And it was beginning to look like that would be the only way to shift them. What does that say about the longevity of speedway careers in this age of lay-down engines and slick tracks? Or does it say more about the up-and-coming riders that can't break into the GPs on merit? Tony Rickardsson bowed out on more-or-less his own terms and Adams looks set to bow out definitively on his own terms. Gollob, on the other hand, having seemed to in some form or other intimate that this would be his GP swansong might struggle to raise his game. I hope not. Leigh Adams is a hugely gifted rider and could, no doubt, have carried on in the GPs for a few more seasons. But, realistically, as gifted as he is, I get the feeling there'd always be someone who just wanted it more than him.

He's so calculated and thats what keeps a rider going for so long. The guns blazing riders tend to drop off sooner, so in that respect, it may be no bad thing for Tomasz Gollob to retire from the GP's after next season.
