iris123
Anyone tell me how Mattias Nilsson's career is going?Whenever i have seen him he looks good. But once he left the juniors he has been a bit quiet.Seems to get some impressive scores but some very poor ones as well.Is he finding it hard to make the progression from promising junior to good senior? treborbee
Has Kaparna got any chance of all not being in the Alsvenskan league again in 2008? that team looks absolutely rubbish compared to the rest of the teams in the league... No 1 must be Dobrucki on a 5 or 6 point average or something?

Kaparna could really have done with Matej Zagar. Still, it's early days yet and there are three transfer windows during the season. It doesn't look too good though. Anders
Anyone tell me how Mattias Nilsson's career is going?Whenever i have seen him he looks good. But once he left the juniors he has been a bit quiet.Seems to get some impressive scores but some very poor ones as well.Is he finding it hard to make the progression from promising junior to good senior? I'm pretty sure Anders is in the best position to answer that one <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has always scored well on certain tracks, especially at home in Vetlanda, but has lacked consistency away from home to make his mark on the top level. His Elitserien average from 2004 (5.43 home/1.85 away) or Allsvenskan average with Lejonen from 2005 (10.51 home/6.27 away) are good stats to prove it. In 2006 he had a troublesome average for team building purposes in VMS Elit and rode in only 2 meetings. Overall he rode far less than he should have IMO, 14 meetings in Allsvenskan and odd bookings in Denmark and Poland can´t be enough during a whole season. I think he still may have what it takes to improve and be a solid reserve in Elitserien, he has always had good machinery but needs to improve is overtaking skills and get some solid scores to further boost his confidence on away tracks. Anders
Szombierki's no1 average wise with 7.14 although he's never achieved anything in Sweden to date. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Will certainly agree with that statement. Though, his big "advantage" for Kaparna is his average of 7.14 which surely will help them to reach the minimum limit for team building of 35.00. Actually I can´t think of many riders out there with an average over 5.00 which could be helpful in that matter; Piotr Swiderski, Mark Lemon, James Wright, Edward Kennett and Danny Bird (if re-assessed) may be the only ones. BTW, what about Piotr Swiderski? Where is he going?

To investigate my statto "statement" a bit further, with the riders assumed to be riding for Kaparna (no official statement has yet been made), I can´t build a team which gets them over 35.00... 1. Rafal Szombierski 7.14 2. Renat Gafurov 5.00 3. Piotr Paluch 5.11 4. Pawel Hlib 4.77 5. Rafal Dobrucki 5.34 6. Kim Jansson 4.73 7. Tomas Karlsson 2.00 (junior) (8. Mikael Berntsson 2.00 (junior)) Total: 34.09 Kauko Nieminen 3.57 David Kujawa 2.00 Exchanging Hlib and Jansson for Swiderski 5.41 and a new 5.00 rider will make it exactly 35.00 but leaving Jansson out of the team will never happen until hell freezes over. Options seems limited but they still have places to fill and the official squad will be presented on their website between Christmas and New Years Eve, we´ll just have to wait and see. Delgado
Szombierki's no1 average wise with 7.14 although he's never achieved anything in Sweden to date. He won bronze medal in world junior champoinship 2003 Kumla

Well I know I promised only 100% confirmed signings at the beginning of this thread but I got tired of waiting However, these signings were revealed by Tommy Rander in Race magazine, so it's not entirely without ground. Still, not 100% confirmed. That's interesting about the minimum points limit, and quite worrying aswell. Hadn't thought about it, just assuming they'd make it. I'm sure Rander is very aware though, and hopefully he has someone lined up. Svemo might let an understrength team pass without penalty for the odd match if injury has ravaged a team. But how would they rule if a team can't make the limit even at full strenght ?
Liverstam
He won bronze medal in world junior champoinship 2003 Kumla <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Serves me right for not being specific Let me rephrase, he has never achieved anything in the Elitserien! Bajen brought him in when they had an injury chrisis this summer, he only rode one match though away at Västervik and apparently turned up with rubbishty equipment and an equally rubbishty attitude, scoring a big fat zero including two stops from three rides. Let's hope he redeems himself in Gothenburg, for Kaparnas sake! Edited December 24, 2006 by Liverstam
Anders
Just out of interest how does that compare with Jonasson? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jonasson had the following averages in 2006: Elitserien, VMS Elit: 4.60 (4.59 home/4.62 away) Allsvenskan, Lejonen: 8.64 (9.07 home/8.31 away) The stats I give are unofficial averages which I have assembled myself based on the official online result service so it may not be 100% correct. (typing errors, miscalculations etc.) Also, all averages that I have listed includes bonus points. The online results service on speedway.nu didn´t calculate bonus points in 2006 but I think it gives a better view on a rider´s season. Still, not 100% confirmed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I have read that on MasarnaAvesta´s website (referring to Race magazine) so it´s not entirely without ground, as you say. My post wasn´t meant as a "dig" at you, sorry if you took it that way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I´m sure Rander has got something up his sleeve as he realisticly (sp?) has the same average we do. Worst case scenario could be some kind of special dispensation with all meetings involving Kaparna not counting towards the averages. Hope it doesn´t come to that. I have been wondering, would Szombierski actually enter at 7.14? He has never ridden enough heats (16) to get an official Swedish average, remember his average was re-assessed from his 4.39 average at Vargarna in 2004 to 7.57 when signing for Bajen Speedway in 2006. Could actually see him starting on 6.73 (106 points excl bonus points in 63 heats according to Sportowefakty), based on his Ekstraliga performence in 2006. That would be even more troublesome for them. We´ll see. BTW, God Jul to You Liverstam and others Swedish forum members, and for all other International posters/viewers, a Merry Christmas! Liverstam
Don't worry Anders, I did not take it as a dig. If anything, I am a bit embarassed and apologetic as to breaking my own rule/promise. As for "Zombie", the rules regarding assesed averages are truthfully a bit beyond me. It sounds correct though, as you pointed out he's never ridden enough heats in the Elitserien. Cue more misery for Kaparna. Well at least there's never a dull moment whenever Kaparna are around, always stoking up controversy and always in some sort of trouble. You really have to give Rander credit for his never-say-die spirit! Merry X-mas to everyone on this forum reading this post!

Liverstam
Looks like Kaparna managed to get Matej Zagar to sign after all, according to reports in swedish media today. He will not ride in all matches though. Also, Chris Louis is heading for Gothenburg.
Liverstam
Martin Smolinski is the latest rider to get into the Bajen squad. Iris123, please tell us all about him! I remember seeing him at the SWC round in Eskilstuna in 2005 and was impressed by how well he hung on against the top notch opposition from Sweden, Poland and Australia.
