Pinstripe
Frustrating really, when you look back in 1999 and he came over for the Swedish under23 team and dominated at Newport, beating Craig Watson from the back three times, which even way back then was very rare. He was class for Newport when they snapped him up a few weeks later and was on course for a 9.00 average in his first year till he had a crash with Paul Pickering and stuffed his shoulder up! SCB
He'd have got over the crahs with Pickering, had his shoulder not had a fight with a steel shoe about 3 weeks earlier. The Pickering incident was just damn unlucky. Had both not occured he'd probably have been a regular at Newport and been up there in the legendary status by now (had he not moved into the EL!). Hard as nail, fearless, scared of nobody sort of rider, just what ever teams needs one of, exactly what we've been missing since Frank retired IMO. Wato can do it, if he has too but rarely does (apart from against Somerset for some weird reason!! Clearly understand the local rivals thing! Chris
Any rumours about some of our youngsters like Kennett, King and Bridger getting rides in the Swedish Elite League this season? tarabanko
Any rumours about some of our youngsters like Kennett, King and Bridger getting rides in the Swedish Elite League this season? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not what I am aware off. Bridger was over here this year for Getingarna i Allsvenskan. Lewis Bridger (GB) 15points 14heats 3matches CMA: 7,06. Saw Lewis Bridger here in Eskilstuna and he was way out of his depth, 1 free point as he's teammate was stonelast, two zeros was his result in his other two rides and Bridger was not on the pace. He isnt ready to come over here yet to race in the elite league. Bridger does go good around Arlington but has harder to produce on away tracks. Bridger needs to ride in England this year to, maybe then next year he will be ready for the hardest league in the world. Bridger is young and hopefully he can go places in a few years time. / Mikael
CaptainMarvel
some really strong teams named so far and could only dream of having some of them teams in the UK. IMO the league will be between VMS, Dackarna , Bajen and Vastervik. hopefully will be able to get over to Sweden a few times again this season to see Dackarna Edited November 22, 2006 by CaptainMarvel
Liverstam
Heard from a true source that Joonas Kylmäkorpi has signed for Bajen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Certainly hope you're right. Still very quiet around Joonas.
Liverstam
Any rumours about some of our youngsters like Kennett, King and Bridger getting rides in the Swedish Elite League this season? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now confirmed that Lewis Bridger has signed a three-year contract with Bajen Speedway. Although in 2007 he will represent partner-club Griparna in the Allsvenskan, at least to begin with. A chance for Bridger to earn his spurs for Elitserien by impressing with Griparna. Just applaud Bajen for doing a good deal, I think Nicki Pedersen might have had a say in this. Hopefully he gains some great experience and he will be a regular at Bajen in the latter part of the second year.
Liverstam
I think Nicki Pedersen might have had a say in this. I'm sure you're right. Nicki seems to have taken young Bridger under his wing.
Liverstam
Joonas finally signs on for another year with Bajen! I'm over the moon about this Such a quality guy! Edited November 30, 2006 by Liverstam
M.D
I'm sure you're right. Nicki seems to have taken young Bridger under his wing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All the Eastbourne riders have helped Lewis, Nicki has been fantastic and is taking the role of his mentor on, but dont forget, Adam Shields is also at Bajen. f-s-p
And Kaparna is on it's way to getting the track situation sorted.
Liverstam
Yes, the detailed plan for the construction was finally greenlighted by the construction committee of Gothenburg on the 12th of this month. But there is still more red tape and ofcourse the question of funding before Kaparna is out of the woods. And even if everything does work to plan from here on, they are unlikely to have the new track at Säve ready for May 1st. According to Tommy Rander the educated guess is that Kaparna will start the season at their old track Arendal and finish at Säve. Still, this decision by the construction committee should give Kaparna some peace of mind to finish their teambuilding. Only 15 days to go now. tommy
Not sure if this is the thread, but I was hoping to get info on Linus Eklof. His DOB, stats, etc. Also an opinion on him from our Swedish friends. Thnx!

Main thing for me is that Kake Nieminen gets his chance to prove himself right from the start.
Anders
Not sure if this is the thread, but I was hoping to get info on Linus Eklof. His DOB, stats, etc. Also an opinion on him from our Swedish friends. Thnx! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Linus is born on March 3rd 1989 and has just completed his second season in 500cc as a member of the Smederna/Team Bikab organisation in Eskilstuna. A member of the Swedish U16 International back in 80cc, took 2nd place in the Swedish U16 Championships back in 2004. Took some steps forward during the second half of 2005 and doubled-up with Bysarna and had a few good meetings from reserve in Allsvenskan League. He continued his development in 2006, making his debut in Smederna, riding in the Swedish U21 team, qualifying for the Nordic U19 Championship (finishing 8th) and made a fine performence in the Swedish U21 Championship in finishing on 8th place with 8 points. Stats: -2005 Bysarna (Allsvenskan), 4 meetings, 15 points in 13 heats, 4.62 incl bonus points Team Bikab (Division 1), 9 meetings, 69+6 points in 36 heats, 8.33 incl bonus points -2006 Smederna (Elitserien), 7 meetings, 6 points in 9 heats, 2.67 average* Team Bikab (Allsvenskan), 14 meetings, 68 points in 60 heats, 4.53 average* * Bonus points were not calculated in official stats for 2006 At first glance, it may seem strange that he averaged less in Allsvenskan in 2006 in comparison with 2005, but keep in mind that bonus points weren´t calculated for official stats in 2006 and that he rode in the main body of the team for most/all of 2006. Definitely a rider for the future who might get himself into the 5 rider Swedish U21 WTC team towards next fall.
