Lukas Dryml Injury

Recommended Posts

Actuall, I think Penge is near Wolverhampton?

Also, I suspect he meant reading, as in literature; as opposed to any affinity for the home of the Racers. :)

Watch it Bryce you'll be in trouble, why do you assume its a he :?: ;)

Ahhh. THAT Penge. Went through it on a train once en route to Selhurst Park. :D

Regarding the male/female issue. Apologies again. I didn't think as to me, it matters not a whit what sex you are in terms of a person's intelligence, ability and friendliness.

okay. Your profile doesn't state your gender. (No reason it should) I wrote a he without thinking (whilst backing you up re the Reading thing actually) and immediately apologised. Twice.

I assume the punching my lights out remark is meant light heartedly. :?:

Guest Sir Lunchalot

Remember Lukas Dryml ?? (He was the one who went over the handlebars at the last GP and landed face first on the track and received some nasty injuries, you might have seen it, it was on Sky)

The thread was actually about saying how lucky he was not to be more seriously hurt than he was and how most people hoped for the good of speedway he gets better very soon.

Somewhere along the line a few people decided to hijack the thread and start sledging each other. Delightfully witty and enthralling reading (not the place near London, the one to do with words) that it is unfortunately there is no place for it here. All it shows is a general lack of respect for other contributors.

I for one hope that Lukas gets better very soon and we see him back in the saddle and I would be grateful if anyone could keep us all posted regarding his progress.

Entirely correct Sir L.

Seems like I'm upsetting lots of people with my efforts to be nice. I apologise to you too.

You are far from the top of my list of problems Bryce. People always wanting to be "right", people always wanting the last word, people being stubborn, and people refusing to apologise all rank higher than you do. :D

Sorry mate.

I concur with Bryce.

perhaps we should move the irrelevant bits of this thread.

All best wishes AD

.....people always wanting the last word
Can I post this, so that you don't get the last word Sir L.?

Seriously, there was quite a good discussion a few pages back about how the sport might take something positive out of a very unpleasant crash.

I hope Sky don't exploit the rubber neck idea and used it their credits etc. But the fact that there is video footage from several angles should be exploited by the authorities to understand what happened, why and how to prevent similar crashes in the future.

I thought it was sick to keep showing the crash on the night when most folk thought the guy was VERY seriously injured. I'd definitely agree they should NOT use it in their credits, instead by the authorities to maybe damn the airfences on the straights!!!

Glad they never showed Crumpy after he ran out of fuel, not much has been said about this, who does actually have responsibility to refuel bikes at the GP's???

I would have thought the job of re-fueling lies with the mechanic (s) probably a case of too many chiefs not enough indians ;) I thought you did it.....nope I thought you had etc etc depending on how many indians there are of course ;)

Is there any update on Lukas anywhere yet :?:

See this astonishing article from the Polish Press. This needs investigating and actions taken NOW !!! Article posted to the speedway list by Roman Chyla

Zbigniew Krzystyniak from the PAP (Polish Press Agency) filed recently an

update on Lukas Dryml.

It says that Lukas most likely will leave the hospital at Vrchlabi in

Eastern Czech Rep. by the end of this week. He was brought there by his

father, Ales, after most horrific speedway accident seen by millions of TV

viewers around the world at Krsko GP. Lukas is being taken care of by a

group of local doctors who are led by Vladimir Dryml, Lukas' uncle, and the

hospital's managing director.

I have not seen the crash on the video - said Lukas to TV Nova reporter, and

I don't remember it. What I do remember is that before the race I agreed

with my father that the best bet for me will be to finish on 4th place,

which will give me the best starting position in the decisive heat. Next

thing I knew, I woke up in hospital.

His father, Ales, also well known speedway rider in his time, added that his

son's life was saved by incredible luck and the best quality helmet money

can buy. The talented young Czech rider suffered concussion, broken nose,

lost some teeth and is bruised all over. The doctors managed to get swelling

down from his face, mainly around eyes. Lukas is still suffering from a head

ache, buy believes that in two weeks time will be able to be back on his

bike again.

Peter Moravec, The Dryml Team manager, said that he intends to file an

official complain to the FIM for unsatisfactory level of medical care on

Krsko track. If it was not for Lukas father, the young Czech would most

likely never regained consciousness. Ales Dryml, the senior, reluctantly

admits that his son was already having a fit and only by pulling out his

son's tongue, Lukas is still alive.

What I went through with the Slovenian doctors is the worst thing that has

happened to me in my whole life, admitted Ales Dryml. Instead taking care of

my son, for more that one and a half hours they were arguing what to do

next, and to top this up, for the next half an hour they were filling in the

forms.

Peter Moravec added that immediate help on the Krsko track came from Lukas

father and - luckily - a Slovenian nurse who was following

strict orders from Ales. Apparently she was ( on the track) the only

representative of the medical team

Now that is very scary, Chris.

That dreadful medical attitude compounds the nasty accident he experienced.

Re the fuel problem -

Sullyrox gave me the impression, on Monday, that it was a management responsibility - anyone got anymore info on this?

How can a GP be run on a track where the medical team appear to not know what they are doing?

I know for a fact that if such an incident happened at Cardiff, the St John's boys and girls would be straight on track concerned only with helping the rider rather than filling out stupid forms and arguing.

Very worrying that this has happened, lets hope Lukas gets better soon ready to take his place at Gothenberg.

I read that article at work and was absolutely livid. 5 hours later and I'm still fuming, it seems to me Posselthing, Olsen et al are far more interested in TV schedules running to time than the well being of the GP riders. Still that's not really a surprise is it :-(

You know, the not-so-funny thing is: before the meeting I commented that the medical care might not be up to scratch in a country such as Slovenia so sadly this report comes as no suprise to me.

I hope the FIM and GP organisers learn from the very lucky outcome this time and remedy it so that it will not occur again. And if that means no GP in Slovenia then so be it. Next thing you know they'll be running GP's in Sudan just to reach out to more poorer nations.

Shillings before safety - speedways biggest problem since the sport began.
