Subedei
I see that a team from Prague has entered Liga II in Poland, where they'll join teams from Latvia, Ukraine and Hungary. The third tier of Polish speedway looks ever more like a European, rather than national, league.
Mateusz
Anything wrong with this? Apart from some logistics problems and mainly costs of travel I think it's not a bad idea.
Subedei
Anything wrong with this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wasn't suggesting there was anything wrong with it. In many respects it is a good thing, with, as you say, the logistical costs being the main problem.

Deano
I think Denmark or Sweden do the same don't they with Finish teams? Good idea I say, being an Island can't see it happening here, unless an expat in France or Ireland has an idea?
MattyHart
thought france was mainly longtrack and grasstrack and ireland hasnt even got a track.
rabbit
I think Denmark or Sweden do the same don't they with Finish teams? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sweden already have at least one Norwegian team in one of their lower leagues. I went to one of the meetings when the GP was at Hamar a few years back. Edited November 12, 2006 by rabbit
SCB
Sweden already have at least one Norwegian team in one of their lower leagues. I went to one of the meetings when the GP was at Hamar a few years back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No idea what the team name is but Lee Dicken and Chris Neath used to ride for them. Wold have been about 2001. Seem to remember the reported crowds in the Speedway star were always double figures, low double figures at that!!! I remember once reading they had 12 paying spectators assuming it was £10 to get in, the rider would have been lucky to get paid £20 if they were paid a % of the gate receipts
rabbit
Sounds about right. When we went I think we doubled the crowd. When it started raining everyone took cover in the pits...and I mean everyone - riders, fans and officials. Think Wizzer might also have ridden for them at some point? There were a couple of Finns riding on the day who made it to one of their SWC teams too. Great set up though... purpose built track in the middle of a wooded hillside area. All smart and well kept with purpose built pits and small cafe with the refs box on top - looked like a huge log cabin from memory . There was a moto-x track going up the side of the hill in and out of the trees - inbetween races we just watched the competitors who were hacking around that track. The Team was Norrbaggarna. Stein Waalen was involved with it. / Mikael it was better in norway then Leif "Basse" Hveem was around. He wrote a book also 'On two wheels' really good to read. He was really fast. Edited November 13, 2006 by speedyguy
