SCB
Seems Richard has broken his arm, has to attend hospital tomorrow to see if he needs an op. Get well soon mate.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yet he still tried to come out for another heat. Thats lads going to be a great speedway rider with that attitude Certainly had some bad luck, constantly finding himself on the floor in a bad, through no fault of his own! Get well soon Titch. People sare saying they didn't enjoy it etc etc blah blah but I enjoyed this years more than the last 3 I have been to, I thought there was more passing/racing than other years. Like someone else, I did notice that if Martin Dugard missed the start he just didn't turn and speared whoever was n the outside of him and fell. So was shocked to see him go from gate 4 in the final, that trick would not work from there. I was going to write a whole paragraph about Semen Valsov, but decided I'd probably get a ban if I did. It has to be mentioned though, in heat 4, Semen shot over Robbos back wheel

BobC
Totally shattered this morning. A big, big thanks to Dave and Brendan Johnson and BobC for a great day - now that 8am start all makes sense! Guys - Bob was right - you are all totally nuts on meeting days - in the nicest possible way! I'm seeing you all in a whole new light. Great laugh. The meetings were the same as I remember from previous years but it did seem to drag on a bit in the evening, but that's maybe cos it was a long day. Great to see the academy lads give their all - well done to Bren and Matt Bates on their points and hope Richard Franklin's wrist isn't as bad as first thought. Good to see the usual reprobates from Coventry during the afternoon and nice to say hello to 21CH and Kitten there yesterday too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very pleased you enjoyed yourself, although I just knew you would!!A day in the life of the Johnsons is never dull.Good to be able to chat to you properly for once, rather than a quick word on race nights at Poole.Thank you for your company. Walking through the pit area certainly opens your eyes. The 'kids' are in their own World, all very friendly....till they put on their kevlars! Then its war! Had a quick chat to Rich Franklin, who was naturally very down.Sorry to hear you have broken your arm.Speedy recovery.Pleased for all the Hazelden clan.Lovely people who always stop and chat.Well ridden Shane. Agree with Rob and PhilK.The product has gone stale.Basically,I only went along to support the Under 15's.Once their races were over,it wouldnt have bothered me at all if we have left at that point.Certainly the evening event went on far too long,at nearly 3 hours.I know its only supposed to be a 'fun' event, but for me,its lost all direction. Any news of Stuart Robson's injury?Certainly took a hefty whack, and his bike taking a right old bashing. It was difficult to follow things, with riders swapping helmet colours,or lack of them,Mr Coombes remaining clueless as usual. Thanks to Rabs,I was introduced to loads of people,so many I cant remember most of them!Good to meet you, even if I cant remeber who you are!! An enjoyable day out,if a little long. Matt Davis
I didnt bother this year either and reading this thread hasnt really made me think 'sh*t, I should have gone' either. A few changes I think for next year..
Parsloes 1928 nearly
It has to be mentioned though, in heat 4, Semen shot over Robbos back wheel Hmm, I was wondering at one point, with Ryan Fisher out and the organisers' needing someone to take his slot in the evening's Individual, whether (as he's 17) they might ask young Matt..?? This would have resulted in the intriguing prospect of Master Bates coming up against Semen..??!!

21st century heathen
If you want conventional speedway at it's best then this is not for you. If you want a chance to catch up with some mates, have a day out, a great laugh, and get to see some powerful bikes slide sideways, ridden by some very talented people, then this is a great day out on an otherwise misserable November *edit* December day. I hadn't been to Brighton, but I enjoyed myself. Okay, so most of the speedway is either tapes to flag or first bend crashes but who cares? (No need to answer I've read your comments) It's supposed to be a fun day out, not a deadly serious speedway meeting/s. And to continue the positive theme. Great to meet a few new people. Rabbit, Jemma (No you're not ), Bob C, Rob P, Jim B, and of course great to see everyone I already knew. I do have one apology to make because I didn't engage my brain until after we left. It didn't strike me until then that that bloke I didn't know must have been Shale Eater. Sorry mate I should have realised sooner, and said hi. The best race of the night in good ol' fashioned speedway terms involved the best pairing in the afternoon (Despite what the result says). Ed and Lewis early on in the afternoon meeting (Don't have a programme so not sure the heat number). Ed cocked up the start with Lewis leading. Ed has got this style of racing absolutely nailed down, and forced his way past the opposition pair. He was dropping his front wheel over the inside curb to stay even tighter than the track looks. Going into the 3rd lap he passed Lewis on the inside, and then slowed down the two following riders tried to follow through on the inside. Lewis was a little too wide but was still there, and wasn't making any mistakes. Ed was looking back as much as forward, and by creeping round in the curb he was team riding Lewis for the 5-1. Sadly on the last bend Ed was just a tad too far ahead of Lewis to continue covering him, and Lewis was nudged to the back coming off the last turn. Cracking ride by Ed, and a fantastic attempt to team ride his partner home. The problem for Lewis was that he was riding a tad too wide, and also seemed to be giving it too much 'wellie'. His bike sounded to be revving higher as he opened up the throttle, and he seemed to be spinning. The better riders such as Ed, Martin, and Olly (Who was as good as his scores suggest) were able to ride the track as though it were a normal speedway track. They rode perfect broadside bends, and where smooth on the 'straights'. There were those that adaped, such as Darkin (Who got better and better with every ride) and a few others that seemed to be on/off the throttle to maintain the balance between getting the bike to move forward and spinning. On the subject of Lewis I want to reply to a couple of comments having a pop at him. This young man is a fantastic rider (Just ask PK and Billy after he was a right handful at Monmore back in the early part of last season), and the most promising English talent for a hell of a long time. He got a stroppy after his exclussion ofr two reasons, as far as I could see. Firstly, it was a harsh exclusion (Particularly given some of the races that rides got back into). I expected that we'd get a genuine race for the final. Because of the points scoring system his ex. was certain to cost Ed and he the win. Ed cruised to the win, and all that was needed to win the pairs championship was to simply finish the race. It's understanable that Lewis was peed off, and it's a shame it ended like that. And to continue the slight downward turn in the tone of my post it was a real shame to see a couple of the lads get hurt. Any news on Robo? It looked painful by the way he went down. I hope there's no serious damage. Ryan came all the way over only to take a good whack, and break a toe. When interviewed he sounded really positive about coming back over here, and having a proper go this time. He said he knew he partied too hard last time, and he seems more mature now. It's surely too late for him to do anything on the world stage, but he is a talented rider. With the right backing, he could be a really good signing for somebody. He's on a low average that could easily be improved...a lot!!! Titch was certainly in the wars. He took a few knocks, including the one that did the damage. I was with Nikki when he sent the message to say he's broken it. Sounds painful mate, hope it doesn't keep you off the bike too long. Final parting though - Thanks to my captors I had a great couple of days (Yes even today ). I'd go to Brighton again, because I love to see bike go sideways. How about you? Gemini
..... then this is a great day out on an otherwise miserable November day. Mmmmm. On your own were you? I thought everyone else was there on December 10th.
Chivs
The racing i never great - always some decent crashes if you like that sort of thing - however always a few injuries as well. If a few forum regulars decided not to go then thats unfortunate, but of those that went I enjoyed the company as usual. Its really a day out in a nice town meeting some great friends from all over the UK and spending a few hours watching a sport that we all love. Had a good time with Turner Airways as well - good check in time and no hassle taxi-ing to the motorway!! Felt sorry for the indian lad in the petrol station on the way home - but im sure he'll get over it And Davis after your comment I can only say - i didnt once wonder where you were

baz brush
To me the most annoying part of the day were the people sat two rows behind who took it upon themselves to yell 'Get Olly out', 'It was Olly's fault' and booed him whenever he was in a race. Not quite sure what he'd done to to offend them, but they thought it was hilarious to continue their 'joke' throughout the meeting. Guys if it was funny the first time, believe me any modicum of humour had evaporated by the 100th time. Pathetic. On a positive note I enjoyed the day as usual! And great to bump into 21stCH while out and about! See I'm not scary am I?! Did Steve Turner look scared to you?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jemma allow me to explain. I think that we were probably part of the party you are talking about. My nephew is 7 years old and for whatever reason he says he doesnt like Olly along with 2 other riders yesterday so made it his job to try to get them excluded, as we told him that he was going to be one of the referees for the day (why kids do these things do any of us know) but he was egged on a bit by a few of us, if you were in front and had looked behind you might of also seen the funny side of it as did the gent sitting in front of my nephew (behind your group) who at times had tears of laughter at him, so as you can see it wasnt him having a go at Olly it was a 7 year old thinking he was in power, he was actually most disappointed that his vote never got to exclude anyone, his programme showed red any time a vote was asked for. There was no mallice intended and hope it didnt spoil your day. Baz
Leigh
Good post 21st CH. I thought the evening meeting was pretty entertaining although the afternoon one had just a bit too much falling off (was there a heat where someone didn't come unstuck? ) Its really a day out in a nice town meeting some great friends from all over the UK<{POST_SNAPBACK}> What about from France? At the end of the day to me it's a fix of speedway thrown into the middle of a cold dark miserable winter with a chance to get to meet up with some mates (and 21st CH ) and a social event as much as anything else
TMGracing
Ryan only taking one ride kind of ruined my day a bit but it was a good laugh. Some of the decisions are diabolical but I suppose by saying that I'm 'not really entering into the spirit of the event.' <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So Silver Cheetah did you get to talk with Ryan after the races.
