We are looking at doing the Lonigo Gp next year

 

Can anyone give me details of flights hotels travel times etc

Just booked a week for £185 which is return flights from Edinburgh, 4 nights in Milan, 2 in Venice and 1 in San Bonifacio (the main town & rail station closest to Lonigo I believe).

 

Think Verona is the best place to fly to although Milan only gives you a 3hr train journey.

 

Night in San Bonifacio is at Hotel Stadio which is £40 a night

Mrs Snail and I went this year and flew into Milan. Aim to stay in Verona if you can, which is beautiful and under an hour away from the track. There's very little in Lonigo itself apart from the track, so don't be tempted to stay there.

 

This year the racing was excellent and there were plenty of spaces in both the seated and standing areas. Tickets on the night were cheaper than we had paid in advance which was slightly galling, but it would have been a long way to travel only to get locked out!

 

You'll have a great time if you go, that's for sure!

I did Lonigo this year with the boys (and girls) from TPTours and can't praise them highly enough - met some lovely people even if they weren't Australian, good Hotel, marvellous resort town of Garda on the Lake where I managed to find a bar with a big Telly to show the Bledisloe Cup on the Saturday morning. (that's the Wallabies v the All Blacks for all you non-cognescenti) and excellent transfer to & from Lonigo. More drama getting a beer in Lonigo than anywhere else. It may cost a little more going on an "Organised (sic) Tour" but it takes all the drama out of it. Oh, and Ryan Air didn't go belly-up on us which is a bonus!! Get onto James, Bryan or the lovely Clare with my whole-hearted recommendations.

 

Best of all, CRUMPY WON!! (on one leg!)

 

Oh, if any of youse mob are coming out to Oz this January, give me a shout and I'll show you how to order me a beer. Or two.

A lot of people are under the impreesion that san bonifacio is the nearest station. 2 years ago i picked some friends up there, but the verona-venice train goes to the next stop which is lonigo<about £2 from verona>, other people were coming of trains and were struggling to get a cab. The best bet is get off at lonigo then cab back to san bonifacio. As the italians start late you cant get a train back afterwards, just after 10pm is the last one back to the best of my knowledge. Fully agree with other postings re verona, best place to fly too and stay. £185 for week is good deal, i think big fat dave saying you might pay a "little" more with tp tours is well off the mark!!!

Lonigo is closest to Verona but Venice is not too far away either. Ryanair fly to both.

 

We have just booked to go from Stansted to Venice Treviso for £55 each. We hire a car spend Friday in Venice then drive over to Verona which is our base for a couple of days.

G'day Spanner, and how the heckareya?

Point I was trying to make was - if you want all the little dramas taken out of your trip then an organised tour is the way to go for sure. I've used TPtours a couple of times now as an adjunct to my own disorganised tours of Europe and believe me it makes a nice change from my usual daily litany of close calls, disasters and unpleasant surprises etc.

Its not easy travelling solo around the world and just occasionally its nice to have someone watching your back (and your luggage).

That said I'm off for two weeks in January following the Oz Championships around our vast brown land on a budget and the logistical nightmare is still not quite sorted, more hours on the Internet I'm afraid, with no goofing off looking up horizontal Folk-dancing. Things we do for a sniff of Shale & Methanol! (My nearest Solo Speedway would be Adelaide - about 3000Km.) Regards, BFD.

G'day dave, see where you're coming from, but £150 <max> per g.p. and a few little dramas is certainly my way of doing things, always reckon the odd drama adds to the fun of it. 3000km for a meeting? Good luck mate, hope the rain holds off.
