Conkers
Spoke to Roger Newton today, he has entered the Norway meeting on March 10th and one in Oluo (sp.) around the same time. There a few Ice Racers who won't be at Assen, so they are all going to Norway too. Interesting that Assen have dropped the Golden Spike meeting, preferring to run an open meeting where they can choose the riders rather than have them dictated
iris123
Yes and Divisov are having a Pairs meeting instead of the Golden Spike meeting. Plus from what i have seen, next weeks meeting in Saalfelden has been put back a week Also read that apart from the German Championship meeting at Erfurt they are also having an "open" meeting the same day
iris123
Sanok Cup results 1.F.Zorn 2.H.Simon 3.J.Klatovsky Full results here
Conkers
1. Frank Zorn 15 (3,3,3,3,3) 2. Harald Simon 14 (3,3,3,3,2) 3. Jan Klatovsky 12 (3,2,3,2,2) 4. Rene Stellingwerf 11 (1,2,2,3,3) 5. Marian Kreklau 10 (2,2,2,3,1) 6. Antonin Klatovsky jr. 9 (3,w,3,d,3) 7. Frederik Olsson 9 (2,w,2,2,3) 8. Stefan Pletschacher 8 (1,3,2,2,0) 9. Johan Bruckner 6 (0,3,1,1,1) 10. Lukas Rosti 6 (2,1,0,1,2) 11. Graham Halsall 5 (w,2,1,2,0) 12. Josef Kreuzberger 5 (0,1,1,1,2) 13. Peter Jansson 3 (2,w,1,0,0) 14. Thomas Cavigelli 3 (1,1,0,0,1) 15. Zdzisław Żerdziński 2 (1,w,0,1,0) 16. Rene Verhoef 1 (0,0,0,0,1) 17. Jan Pecina 0 (d) Looking at the results, with all due respect to Franky, he is head and shoulders above this field. Good result for Stefan Pletschacher after his injury, and 11th place for Graham is a good result for him. Would expect better of Toni Klabo, but it looks like he had some problems. Any more news on the Saalfelden qualifier next weekend? Watching the Skiing this afternoon from Italy, it looks like they had to pack the snow on the runs. iris123
Final results F.Zorn 30 H.Simon 27 J.Klatovsky 24 Full resuls here As for Saalfelden,i have seen something on speedway.org that it has been put back to the 11 feb.If that means it is definitely in Oulu i am not sure.Haven't seen anything official.Like you i watched a bit of the Ski-jumping and Bob and the mountains were pretty much clear of snow, more like April than January.I think they were from South Germany/Austria somewhere Edited January 14, 2007 by iris123
f-s-p
The word over yesterday was that the Saalfelden people had a meeting sunday evening to make the decision.
iris123
It's definitely been cancelled this weekend. They will be deciding in the next few days when and if anywhere else
f-s-p
I think Saalfelden has now completely given up organizing the qualifier. I phoned to Oulu yesterday, they didn't confirm anything except that they are aware of the situation have had a look if they could do it. iris123
Last chance saloon! The new date is 3/4th Feb.That is the last chance they have. After that it goes somewhere else. Here
Conkers
I bet that Saalfelden don't want to run after 3/4th Feb, as with Inzell a few kilometers up the road so to speak, to run the weekend after would financial suicide for them. I put my money on Oulu taking the round the following weekend, and Inzell being packed with frustrated Ice racing junkies desperate to see a race this season! Just hope they can run in Divisov this weekend! At least we can look forward to the Team Final in Russia, unless they are having a sudden Heatwave the weekend after next...... At least we can look forward to the Team Final in Russia, unless they are having a sudden Heatwave the weekend after next...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From yesterday's FIM press release: Due to the adverse atmospheric conditions (very mild temperature), the qualifying round 1 of the Individual Ice Racing World Championship in Saalfelden, Austria, previously scheduled on January 14, then on January 21, must be postponed again; the new date is Sunday 4 February. For the same reason, the Team Ice Racing World Championship final, scheduled in Saransk, Russia, on January 27 & 28, is postponed to March 3 & 4. iris123
Spoke too soon Conkers There was supposed to be a Cup of Russia meeting last weekend in Saransk, which was obviously cancelled due to the weather.Very few places are experiencing "good" weather.North America maybe It is causing chaos with the season.Plus all the fans who have booked holidays, flights, hotels, etc.I think one of our forum members,German Speedway Fan was in Saalfelden last weekend.Lets hope he had a good time despite the cancellation
f-s-p
There's a link in masarna.nu that the Saalfelden qualifier will be held in Östersund, Sweden on the last sunday of January. Suit's me fine The team final that was supposed to be in Saransk a week from now will now take Aakko, Flyktman and Lehtinen away from the finnish final scheduled on 3rd of March in Oulu. Thats not good. Think they will have problems tracking a full field now. And the standard of racing just dropped a lot.
tomazpozrl
UEM issued a press release after Management council meeting on Monday and included the following news in the release: The Ice Racing European Championship Semi-Final and Final, scheduled on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd February 2007 in Lukhovitsy (Russia), were cancelled because of particular weather conditions. German Speedway Fan
I've made a week Holiday at Saalfelden and hoped they had been able to run this meeting, but it is too warm. Have been at the track on Sunday afternoon and it would have been impossible to run a meeting. If it is getting cold in Austria i think they would be able to build a track. Anybody told me that the ice have to be 60 cm strong to hold a meeting. at the moment i believe too the meeting will be held at finland. Conkers
This thread makes me more and more depressed. The season is rapidly shrinking into two months, and even that looks shaky. At least with the artificial tracks we will get some racing in March, but if the Russians are now rescheduling meetings..... Heard on Radio 4 this Morning that it was 4'C in Moscow and the Russians are amazed that the temp is so high. So much so that some of the migrating birds are still in the Moscow parks! We have had high winds in Manchester today (and one of the Brats at school thought it clever to set off the Fire alarm, so we had to stand in the yard in the wind whilst the school was checked) and it was bitterly cold, yet the winds are set to drop, and they are saying a mild weekend. But considering it's January it still warm!
