Conkers
Looking at the Assen website this morning, looks like the first two round of the Golden Spike, scheduled for next Saturday, 17th Feb, at St. Johann and Sunday 18th Feb at Steingarden have been canceled as the weather is still too warm. Conkers
Looks like the Golden Spike will now be contested over two rounds - Flims 24/2 and Erfurt 25/3. I am also reliably informed that Tommy Flyktman is confirmed for the Roloef Thijs Bookall in Assen, 9/3.

f-s-p
I'd be very happy if someone could point me to the place/.pdf/.doc where it states that there is this rule about max three riders from one FMR to go through in ice racing. It doesn't say that in the rule book, and it doesn't mention any wild cards either.

toonarmy084
Mark uzzell will not be competing in the european championships he had a lot of problems with the police in russia and so returned home to sweden. He also suffered from a blown up engine in saransk.
f-s-p
Too flashy bikes? Dont remember if I posted about this already but I spoke with Aakko about the travelling in Russia. He said it's unbelievable what happens in traffic. All sorts of vehicles with or without light day and night, no respect for speed limits makes the accidents terrible looking... What ever you can think of practically. But once you get where you're going it's an OK place to visit.
Conkers
Thanks for the info, Toonarmy084, send my regards to Mark. Is he venturing south to Assen in three weeks? Any news of a replacement for Mark in Russia? (no doubt another Russian!) Edited February 16, 2007 by Conkers

Conkers
Do the UEM operate a policy of 8 riders from a single Federation? Looking at the results, only POSA and Jan K managed to break through the Russian lines, with Tschatshin getting a reserve berth. By my reckoning the Final should be: 1 Harald Simon (A) 2 Vladimir Chapalo(Rus)(8 t Place) 3 Dmitri Karpukhin (Rus) (3rd Place) 4 Antti Aakko (SF) 5 Maxim Lushniko (Rus) 6 Jan Klatovsky (CzR) (6th Place) 7 Peter Poij (S) 8 Johnny Tuinstra (NL) 9 Mikhail Zelepukhin (Rus) (5th Place) 10 Igor Kononov (Rus) (1st Place) 11 Ildar Kamalov (Rus) 12 Per- Olof Serenius (S) (4th Place) 13 Sergej Baltashev (Rus) (2nd Place) 14 Antonin Klatovsky (CzR) 15 Marian Krecklau (D) 16 Dmitri Khomitsevisch (Rus) (7th Place) R: 17 Roman Akimenko (Rus) (9th Place) R: 18 Dmitri Tschatschin (D) (10th Place) Edited February 17, 2007 by Conkers
f-s-p
They do have a policy about it, saw it in 80cc junior speedway myself. Dont know about their ice racing policy... What happened to Lehtinen??? An engine blow..? This is a tactical (much but not THAT much) move by the Finnish authorities to put Aakko straight in to the finals. We are looking for a medal. Last year plenty of people were saying that Aakko was robbed from a podium finish. By giving him a chance to prove himself again and hoping for a better result, Finland is after to organize this competion in the near future. Conkers
Not being a German speaker (although ordering beer isn't a problem!) I had a look at the Scorechart on Speedway.org, and he got a "D" as his first ride. If this is an engine failure he probably blew an engine. I tried a translation website for the Russian forum, but that was no help. Perhaps iris123 may be able to help?
tomazpozrl
I think "D" on speedway.org means a disqualification, but I'm not sure where they got their info from. I had a look on Russian forum and from my (limited) understanding of Russian I think Lehtinen fell in his first ride. ON-LINE: 17.02.2007 1/2 финала ЧЕ г. Учалы Рафаэль - передаёт: 3 заезд 1. Акименко, 2. Чапало, 3. Сатре, 4. Лехтинен - падение The word in bold (=padenie) means a fall in Russian.
iris123
I agree with Tomaz.Maybe he fell and was disqualified, but i am sure it says he fell on the Russian site.Unfortunately they give no other info as to why he never took any further part in the meeting.Just a bit of squabbling about Khomitsevitch which i don't understand.More internal politics i fear
f-s-p
It would be great if someone could do the translating for the German version of the letters in the scorechart??? Here are the polish ones I got earlier, think it was Leliwa? Thanks anyway.. w = excluded d = engine failure u = fall t = excluded for touching tapes for example: u/4 means fall while 4th, w/2 usually means excluded for exceeding 2 min. time
