TwoMinuteWarning
A controversial incident at Pardubice in the third and final round of the second semi-final. Adams had already qualified for the final, so chose not to compete. Nicki Pedersen had already qualified too - but, strangely, chose to ride. The reason soon became clear. Nicholls missed the gate, but got up to third on the final lap, behind leader Pedersen (who had been continually looking behind him throughout the race), and second place Kasprzak. This would have meant that Nicholls would have qualified for the Final, and not Kasprzak. But on the run-in to the chequered flag, Pedersen - still looking behind - slowed dramatically, allowing Kasprzak to win, and replacing Nicholls in the Final. If he goes to those lengths to prevent somebody qualifying, I can only assume that Pedersen was frightened of meeting Nicholls in the Final ! Then, to make Nicholls' day, he stalled on the line in the Consolation Final.

Debbi
Yeah thanks Iris, I had noticed. Although I don't think he'd dare ride after the stick he took after appearing in Tony's meeting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He wasn't racing but was there and enjoying the cheap alcohol!!! One of the highlights of the Golden Helmet had to be Jason Crump on the podium with what I think was the AUSTRIAN national anthem playing, somebody obviously got their Austria and Australia wrong!!! How wrong was I, he left the bike then ran round the boards high5n everyone as they walked past on their way out. He could have hurried off as he had a meet on Mon night but didnt. This kind of courtesy & respect for the fans has won me over & probably many more who were there.
