Guest Dominator
When will Middlo be naming his squad?? How many will be named this year any ideas on who will be in apart from the obvious ones like Scotty, Rico, Loramski(injury permitting)?? Guest kshyhoo
I think these ones who made their GP appereances this year: David Howe, Simon Stead and Chris Harris. I think the decision has been already made. Middlo could name 10 riders. In Poland these were: - Tomasz Gollob - Piotr Protasiewicz - Tomasz Bajerski - Krzysztof Cegielski (all of them are SGP 2003 riders) - Grzegorz Walasek - Sebastian Ulamek - Jaroslaw Hampel - Rafal Kurmanski (previous four also made their SGP appeareances some time ago) - Rafal Szombierski - Krzysztof Kasprzak Last four riders are so called 'young guns': young, ambitious and quite succesful. You probably recognise some of them: for example Kasprzak rides in Poole.

Chris Brown
David Howe should definatly be considered!!!!! In fact no, not considered......He should be a definate!! He has really come of age recently and deserves the chance!!! as for the rest...... Barker (much as i hate the idea :x ) Norris (an idea i hate even more :x :x ) Why, is it at Eastbourne ??? As its not I certainly wouldn't consider Norris, time to take the chance the chance on the youngsters. GB aren't going to win it so I would say give the young lads the experience of a week long event and prepare for the future
Bryce
If Loram does refuse to ride, then I can't see how the GB team can realistically expect to win the tournament. Therefore, it would make a lot of sense to stick the kids in and let them learn. I'd go with : Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson David Howe Simon Stead Chris Harris 2 or 3 years down the line, it could really pay dividends. Phil
How old are Dean Barker and David Norris? Loram (but it looks like he is backing out) Scott Nicholls Lee Richardson(if fit) David Howe Chris Harris Simon Stead Adam Shields….Opps his not English is he…lol Did I read somewhere that the next world cup could well be back in Britain? Giving the youngster a spin this time will prepare them for next year.

sussex bulldog
How old are Dean Barker and David Norris? 32 and 31 I believe. Norris first rode on his 16th birthday in August 1998 and Barker first rode in 1997 as far as I know. I agree that neither is brilliant on large tracks. Barker is a bit better than Norris but on small tracks they are brilliant. Would not like to see them racing at Sheffield ! Certainly agree about David Howe. Not seen so much of Simon Stead but youth is on his side. Eddie Kennett for the future though.
shazzybird
Dean Barker / David Norris they came 2 & 3 respectively in the GB Championship so why not?
Bryce
I've nothing against the two Eagles personally. However, I think it's time for the GB management to look at making long term improvements. Including Norris and Barker isn't going to make them better riders at this stage of their careers. Nor do I believe that their inclusion would make the GB team significantly stronger than having Howe etc.
shazzybird
Including Norris and Barker isn't going to make them better riders at this stage of their careers. It might just give them the boost that they need, in an ideal speedway world everyone would have the chance to ride for their country as a team not just as an individual
Bryce
Agreed. I think that's where the old Test series are missed.
rob
If Loram still decides not to ride in the SWC, i'd select the following five: Lee Richardson Scott Nicholls David Howe Dean Barker David Norris with Carl Stonehewer on stand by. -Andrew-
This for me. Nicholls Richardson Barker Howe Harris Stonehewer Stu Robson Bird Norris S Stead Scott Nicholls - top Brit, top rider. Lee Richardson - surely a GP rider for years to come. Dean Barker - Deano is riding well all over this year and looks really keen and determined. David Howe - didn't do too well at Cardiff, but made up for that in Krsko and is starting to make big strides forward internationally. Chris Harris - Bomber has been fabulous in the PL and EL, but even though he didn't do much at Cardiff or in the GB v RoW match, he is very inexperienced at this level and the experience will only help. Carl Stonehewer - Stoney is getting right back to his best after that nasty smash in the GP last year and is also starting to score good points for BV. Stuart Robson - Robbo has been consistently impressive in the British Final in recent seasons and has been great for Coventry this season. Danny Bird - Excuse the pun, but Danny is flying in domestic racing this season and (like Harris), experience will only make him better. David Norris - Norris was poor against the RoW on his home track of Eastbourne tonight and although I think he should be in the squad, I think he should just be on stand-by. Simon Stead - Simon won the Brit u21 title again and has been a revelation for Workington in recent weeks, and has also had a bit of bad luck from time to time too. Like with Harris and Danny B, this will be a good experience.
Jez
Danny Bird, you must be joking, maybe in a years time, he lags behind Steady, Bomber etc at a higher level. Don't ruin his confidence be sending him to Denmark and him scoring chuff all, like he did tonight, he looked more like a conference rider not being able to cope with a tight track, a year away from IOW would do him good. Trees
I liked the idea of Jonathan Green's about including Mark in the first TeamGB match then taking him out again for the race-off and/or final. My team would be: Loram Nicholls Richardson Screen Barker Howe Norris Stonehewer Harris Get em all out in practice in Denmark and go from there, fastest five. I also think that there should be some proper test matches in the future to test out the younger generation of riders, they need to get that experience badly!!!!
