Hefenbrock Wins National Title

Beowulf

Recommended Posts

Christian Hefenbrock has won his national title. He scored a maximum 15 points in the qualifying heats and then won the final where Martin Smolinski had engine failure.

Going back to the pre season review in the Speedway star Peter Oakes said that Smolinski was a "much better quality rider" than Hefenbrock. Of course Peter, of course. :D

Yes I am thank you. He's had a good debut season, he's upped his starting average, and finished third in the World 21 final in addition to the above title. He's tailed off in the last few weeks probaly due to the virus he had and fatigue, but overall a success. More to come methinks. :D

He didnt really have much to beat, about the only rider who would have put up a challenge had an engine failure in the final!

Steffen Mell..... a blast from the past, failed to make it at premier league level if I remember correctly?

Have to say that Heffenbrock/Smolinski and Kroner apart, this field is largely premier league second string level at best. Kugelmann is no longer the rider he was.

You can keep Hefenbrock, much prefer Smolinski!

Funnily enough, I agree with keeping Hefenbrock over Smolinski. There is not a lot of difference in their averages, but this Smolinski's second year. :D

Schevchenko,

He didn't has much to beat here you say, but what about the World Under 21 final when he finished 3rd?

Both Martin and Christian have shown that they have the ability to do well in our league. Granted Martin is in his second year over here, but that's not the biggest advantage in the world. Riders often find that the second season is harder than the first, and Martin has consolidated his good first season. His has a few knocks along the way, and a few bikes problems. His true ability was shown last week when he was the best rider on show. If he has good equipment next season I can see him gaining an average over 6 points.

Christian has done what Martin did last year. A good solid start to his career in Britain, although he's tailed off in the league. He has shown enough to prove that he has the potential to do very well.

Both clubs (and fans) are likely to remian faithful, and give them another year. Remember also that they are both very young riders.

If I were a Wolves fan I would have to wonder where Christian's league form had gone when compared to his two recent showings in individual matches. Has he been looking for an average drop? He should be congratulated for his achievements, but surely there is a slight question mark there?

When was the last time there were two young Germans in our league that looked to have the potential of these two?

And don't forget Kevin Wölbert, who finished 3rd the day before in the U21 Final was also missing as he was needed by his Polish club.At only 17 he is the rider that i rate above both Smoli and Hefe.Good to see all doing well though.I still remember the comment on here from someone when Martin signed for Coventry.Something along the lines of "Who is he?Germans are never any good!" :P

Oh and to answer Col.Katt was in France the night before winning the European Grasstrack Championship and sad he couldn't get there in time(i think).Robbie isn't considered for the meeting as he doesn't ride in Germany and not sure if he has a german licence

Firstly, the thread is about Hefenbrock so I've stuck to it! Anyway, very few threads do not veer off at a tangent at some point. Thirdly, I made my comment to put you comment into perspective. Comprehende?

Go easy on it, afterall they are a yam yam

I would suggest that this yam's yam's grasp of grammar is better than your's, you flea. :D

You didn't need to put my comment in perspective, my comment was putting something in perspective.

The simple fact is that he has only beat one or two half decent riders, I havent said he wouldn't have won if there were more good riders out there, but the fact is that there weren't.

From that line-up, I'd say German speedway isn't exactly booming if Hefenbrock and Smolinski are the best around and Toby Kroner can score 14 points and finish runner-up!
