well subedi always hates scott nicholls so we will have to ignore him even though he is better than half the polish crap that wil be in the series next year

They were 3 Poles in the 15 regulars last year, 2 of which got 8th and 9th, Gollob and Hampel thus making them qualify with a seeded spot. Thats 66% of the Poles better than Nicholls. Nicholls is only 33% better than the 'polish crap'.

So it seems your opinion is a little out of sync. Jagus is a rider in Top 10 of Swedish and Polish averages, currently equal 10th in my World rankings, if not better or equal to Nicholl's current level of riding.

In general, all 3 Poles 'qualified' for next seasons GP series but Nicholls relies on a decision which is unfair to all riders of any nationality.

Your somewhat pathetic arguement is sunk by the simple FACT that all the, as you so delightfully put it, "Polish crap" in the GPs next season are actually there by virtue of on-track performance. Nicholls will be there by virtue of his begging skills, if he's there.

Well after reading all these posts I thought I'll post my views.

I think its time for a change, Nicholls and Lee have been trying to get consistantly into the Top 10 but have failed. Lee has said himself he doesnt want it, which is good! Sure Scott has been making Semi Finals, but who cares has he made a final and done something, No.

This season, Stead and Harris should be given ago. Sure they might not be as good as Scotty but its time for a change. Let Scotty concentrate on his league form and finding some consistancy as without that he will get no way near the Top 3 which people think he can get to.

But saddly none of that will happen, Nicholls will get his place for next season and fail to make an impression once again in the GP's.

We seem to have the same debate every year about who deserves and who doesn't deserve to be in the GPs. It's a commercial product and a commercial decision who is included. Those riders in the top eight are not necessarily the top eight riders in the world - a couple of finals and you're in pretty much, even if you ride like a novice in the other rounds (see TG for this).

The old world finals were also flawed, with places allocated by nation so nothing's changed really. My priority is team racing in Britain, individual events have always held less appeal.

I'm not sure that it is accurate to suggest that Tomek is only still in the top 8 because he made a "couple of finals".

By my reckoning, if you tally up the scores from the qualifying heats in all of the GPs this year, Tomek is still in the top 8....

Assuming my calcs are correct, the order actually becomes :

1.Crump (115), 2.Hancock (106), 3.Pedersen.N (100), 4.Adams (93), 5.Jonsson (87), 6.Zagar (78), 7.Gollob (73), 8.Pedersen.B (73), 9.Nicholls (72), 10.Lindback (66), 11.Hampel (65), 12.Andersen (62), 13.Iversen (51), 14.Richardson (40), 15.Rickardsson (38), 16.Protasiewicz (31)

So maybe Jarek Hampel would be a better rider to make your argument with, he tumbles back down the order without his 3 final appearances, unlike Mr Gollob.

Bjarne Pedersen clearly stands out as the man to suffer from his inability to make it through to finals. Scotty also looks much healthier in this table. Considering he missed a round, to only be 1 point out of 8th isn't too bad...especially when you consider he was the 2nd most consistent* rider in the field with a standard deviation in his scores of only 1.32.

*The most consistent was, of course, the great PePe!! :D:rolleyes:

So basically, Scott misses out due to being consistent. He'd have bene better if he made a final, then scored 0, made a final and then scored 0!

That table shows that Scott is quite clearly top 8 material with an average points per GP of 8 which puts him 6th!

Why do people insist on saying he has failed to make the top 8 so he's not good enough? He's only not good enough if you can think of 15 riders ahead of him (Subedei has named his 15, I can't say I agree but then thats a personal choice). I believe scott deserevs a wildcard because he IS one of th top 15 riders in the World, sod all this "Failed to make finals" and "failed to quilify three times now", it's not about having bene top 8, the GP is not a top 8 but a top 15!! If the GP's were shrunk to 8 riders you'd have a good point.

Scott DOES DESERVE a place as he is one of the World top 15 and to say we need a change is farcical! If's he's a top 15 rider, he deserves to be there, you can't drop him just becasue he's had 4 years. Maybe we should drop Crumpy? After all, he has two World Titles, we could do with a change!

No, he doesn't. And the man himself agrees with me. How the hell are young riders ever going to penetrate your beloved top fifteen if they can't get there because serial failures like Nicholls always get nominated? How many people would've put Zagar in the top eight around this time last year? How many complained he wasn't good enough? He proved his worth. Maybe others like Kolodziej would also. Nicholls has proved that he isn't good enough. Scoring points in the qualifiers is one thing, but it's finals that count.

Dont hold your breath - if you listen to his interview on this weeks

Planet Speedway show it seems Scott is hopeful of a nomination for

next seasons GP series

Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath. I don't expect a show of introspection or integrity from Nicholls. That begging bowl must be wearing awfully thin.

Nothing to do with integrity, he will be there because we, British Speedway, have no one better or more deserving and comercially BSI need him.
