heeed
Seeking advice from all you kind folk who have travelled to Bydgoszcz before. My trip is all booked with the exception of the tickets. Matey boy at the poland ticket office said I had to send him my details and pay for the tickets in cash on arrival. Is this the only way to get tickets as I would prefer them in my hand in advance. The other point is that I have been told to avoid standing at 'all costs' by the Travel Plus tours people in Ipswich. Their exact words were 'they would have nothing to do with standing tickets as they considered them lethal'. Needless to say this concerns me a tad. Helpful advice please. Scott. Ruby Tuesday
I've been to Bydgoszcz twice and both time have been just off the 4th bend, before the grandstand. It isn't standing, it's benched all round (as far as I can remember), so you can sit, although if you get a giant in front you have to stand. We didn't have any problems, but were in a largeish group. There are a lot of Poles who enjoy a drink or two, but if you ask them nicely to not fall onto you, or spill their drink they are usually fine. If in doubt tell the Gollob is God and they will be your friend forever! I wouldn't have said avoid it at all costs, unless you have young children or frail or unsteady on the feet people in your party. It's by far the best for atmosphere at any of the Polish tracks I have been to, you'll never forget it. Have fun and if you want you can bring me back a bottle of Wisnowka (Cherry Vodka). spiegal
My advice,continued..... 2 years ago there were 3 major incidents in the main "bench...standing/ areas" teh worst was when about 20 riot police piled in to sort them out. You wanna take that risk, that my old dear is entirely up to you. You pays your dosh and you takes your chance. The Bydgoszcz club are an honest bunch of people. Send them teh money and you can collect your tickets on the gate. it does work.

Ruby Tuesday
Oh - that name is going in my mobile phone now - that sounds awsome!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have seen it for sale in the UK but between £14 and £22 a bottle, in Poland it's roughly £6. The Vodka is red and the labels are usually pink, although I have two different styles of label so there may be more than one brand. There is also a Honey Vodka which is a golden colour in a yellow labelled bottle, it's not as nice IMO, but very popular, it's called Kruypnik (sp?) (Krup-nik). Wisnowka is pronounced Vish-Nuff-Ka. Enjoy!

HenryW
Whether you go into the cheapest seats or not probably depends on the type of person you are and what kind of behaviour you enjoy and what you find unacceptable. You are almost guaranteed to have lots of drunken Poles around you during the meeting. Personally I have never had any trouble, but then I have been with the wonderful Bydgoszcz Net F@ns when I have been in that area. The biggest problem we have had was when huge smoke bombs caused some distress to one member of our party a couple of years ago... The atmosphere is certainly better in the cheap seats than in the other sectors! As for the tickets. Never been a problem with picking up the pre-paid tickets for the meeting after arriving at the stadium, and never heard of anyone having any trouble. heeed
Cheers Henry. Am leaning towards the seated area at moment. Primarily as I am going with my dad and dont want to gove hom too much to moan about! Someone change my mind though......
Ticnic
I went last year and was on the 3rd/4th bend. No problems at all with the Poles although as others have already mentioned they do enjoy their drink! Having said that the atmosphere was brilliant. No problems with us flying the flag quite openly. There were two pluses to the evening - TRick got the points he needed for the title and Tomasz Gollob won the meeting. I do wonder what the atmosphere would be like if someone other than a Pole won the meeting. I went with my father who having recently retired promised himself a trip to a Polish GP. He thoroughly enjoyed the evening. He wanted to go again this year but had already arranged to go elsewhere that weekend. He has vowed to return another year! Mateusz
(...) There are a lot of Poles who enjoy a drink or two, but if you ask them nicely to not fall onto you, or spill their drink they are usually fine. Because sometimes speedway is an 'addition' to the party only For me for certain time all these GPs, SWCs have been just a great opportunity to meet with friends, have lots of drinks together etc. Of course it's great to see TG doing it once again but actually I'm equally excited about the whole rest connected with a GP-weekend - piwo, piwo, piwo, storming stadium gates etc. Looks like this year's one at Bydgoszcz is gonna be the last weekend of the longest holidays of my life.. (studies begin on Monday just afterwards). Needless to say I cannot be sober at all
