MattK
Have a look at on YouTube. Don't worry too much about the racing, but look at the crowd. There's got to be 5,000+ spectators there. The crowd is easily twice the size of that at the SWC Final. Does anyonw know the sort of gates they get for Polish matches?
TwoMinuteWarning
For Extraleague matches, anywhere from 4,000 to 18,000 - see Polish results in Speedway Star, or the match reports on any of the Polish websites.
godmother
larger population, and only race on Sundays, hence the crowd is more concentrated than here due to lack of choice.
Rico
Poland's population - 38,635,144 UK population - 60,441,457 Source www.cia.gov Not sure where you are getting your figures from. Also, surely everyone racing on the same day means you don't get fans going to 2 or 3 meetings per week (as I am sure some do here). godmother
what I should have said, was there is a larger proportion of native born Poles who go to Speedway, whereas we have a much more culturaly diverse population(have to be pc here!)and a smaller bank of fans who would choose to attend speedway. Hope that is clear and you can get the drift. Think there may be more sponsorship over there which keeps prices down to an affordable level. MattK
Speedway is simply less popular in the UK. Maybe we can import some speedway loving Poles to boost attendences.

They use squads, not guests. They have real tactical substitute rides, as opposed to silly golden double rules. They have a genuine eight man team, where a quality number 8 can replace someone who is having an off night. Also the fact that they only have 7 home regular season fixtures, plus 3 more at home in the play offs, makes each fixture more of an occasion. As they say: Less is sometimes more!!
