Subedei
It suddenly dawned on me that following TR's sudden retirement from speedway, the Swedes improbably no longer have an active GP winner. So, who'll be the next Swede to top the podium and when will that be? Jonsson for all his talent and promise hasn't looked a likely winner and Lindback's very erratic. I think the Swedes could be in for a barren time of it in coming seasons, until Lindback matures - if he ever does - and Lindgren enters the fray. AndyM
Don't forget that a few years ago we were saying the same about the Danes - but then Nikki Pedersen won the GP, Hans Andersen and Bjarne Pedersen matured fast and suddenly the Danish prospects look bright. Sweden are helped by the fact that their production line of youngsters gain top league and international experience faster than ours tend to, and therefore mature faster. Freddy Lindgren and Andreas Jonsson might not be their best prospects in a year or two... though I wouldn't write either of them off just yet. Could well be World Champion within the next three years. Just needs the supreme consistency of Crumpy and TRick. He certainly has the ability. SCB
I think this is AJ's chance to shine. All eyes will be on the young pretender Lindback (who is where AJ was 5 years ago) but most of us have a bit of faith in AJ and he is no Swedens number 1 and he's going to prove it. Andreas will win a GP by the end of the year IMO. I certinaly hope so anyway, it would be a shame if a guy with so much talent and flair didn't get a World title, we've already seen it happen to Gollob, lets not have the same happen to AJ. andy moore
Jonsson has to ride over here regularly before he will do anything in the GP series-reckon Lindgren has a bright future and could get in pretty soon if he carries on progressing. Sir Jasper
Agreed Andreas needs to come back over here, and a former rider also said the same. Plus he would be very handy on his 7 point average for Coventry.....

He rides against the world's best regularly in Sweden and Poland. I'd like to see him riding here but that is a different matter. Jonsson won the Swedish title on Saturday easily seeing off Lindback and beating his closest rival (Peter Karlsson) from the back in heat 20. He is clearly Sweden's top rider for now. But Lindback and Lindgren will certainly challenge him, and they have plenty of younger talent coming through (watch out for Tomas Jonasson)

tigerblues
Jonsson is the No1 Swede at the moment, but then again in the GPs this season I thought he was anyway. Maybe not going to be World Champion(although I wouldn't mind being proved wrong!!)but definitely going to start winning GPs, he's a talented guy and still got a lot to offer. As for next Swedish World Champion, I reckon Lindback's in for a shout but I wouldn't be surprised to see Lindgren up there with the best a few years down the line. superguest
Anton and Freddie are brilliant riders for there age. AJ is class, and looks so confident on the bike. Top 3 place in next years GP is something he has to aim for.

However don't think he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Gollob, he is, or has been a different class to Jonsson.

Think this could be AJ's best opportunity this year to win a GP. If not him, then I say Hancock will take it.

Subedei
Do I remember correctly that AJ reached the final in last years final and rode on the white line for the whole race? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very true. On that occasion, Crump just wanted it more. But won't that always be the case with Jonsson? Talented as he is, there'll always be someone who wants it more than he does.
