Tony Not At The Italian Gp

Recommended Posts

Well he won his last ride, so if eh did quit now he'd quit as a winner. However, I have this funny feeling he'll win the last GP of the year and go out with a bang. I hope he does and I'm not even a TR fan!

Totally agree SCB, ive always said he'll come out and win the last GP of this year just to shock everyone and prove he is the greatest speedway rider of this era!

I do think he's made a mistake carrying on this season...hes clearly not giving his all this year, and its a shame as it has spoiled peoples opinions of him, he should have gone out at the top last year instead of going out at the end of a poor season (in terms of his standards) this year

Good luck to Hans, it'll be fantastic to see him race again in the Grand Prix

Tony will always be remembered as the greatest speedway rider of all time but i agree he should have gone out on top, but i guess he wanted a go at beating the record for world championships. Its a shame we have had to see him riding like this and that we didn't get to see him in the world cup. Hope Hans can go out and get another win, defenatly goin to finish above pepe and probably the brits aswell, he deserves it but a shame its at tonys expence

I hardly think that Tony is doing this on purpose. He wouldn't have pulled out of the GP if there wasn't a damn good reason why. And I'd hardly call TR a joke!! So he hasn't been performing as well as we know he can this year! So what? His record speaks for itself. He was the best rider of our time without a shadow of a doubt, and personally I don't see anyone catching up to his and Ivan's standards. Crump can only DREAM of achieving what Tony's achieved!

BSI nominated about 5 reserves, Hans was nominated 1st reserve ahead of rider like Steffan Andersen and Kenneth Bjerre (can't remember the rest)

cheers SCB..............i'm looking forward to the qualifier this year as I think it is important for the series to have the process

btw I wasn't questioning the decision as I feel it was criminal not to have him in anyway.........but it is good to shed some light on some of these decisions that seem to take place quiety in the background sometimes ;)

It's now on SGP homepage:

Sweden’s Tony Rickardsson, who is suffering from double vision when riding, has been ordered by doctors to rest for 14 days and therefore has withdrawn from Saturday’s FIM Italian Speedway Grand Prix at Lonigo (29th July).

Is this the same double vision that Shovlar suffers from when quoting crowd figures for Poole meetings, double vision comes in handy when explaining how you thought that other woman was the wife. :)

SCB - Andersson and Bjerre were last years reserves.

Apparently the list for this years are the people from last years GP series who are not in this years grand prix in the order of which they finished.

http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/sgp/a5242 :P

19 - Hans ANDERSEN - DENMARK

20 - Ryan SULLIVAN - AUSTRALIA

21 - Tomasz CHRZANOWSKI - POLAND

22 - Kenneth BJERRE - DENMARK

23 - Rune HOLTA - NORWAY

24 - Stefan ANDERSSON - SWEDEN
