Chris Brown
Most telling bit here is in the thread's title. REPUTATION. A reputation is earned on past history and previous incidents and he's had plenty. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But an incident should still be judged on its merit not on reputation. Clearly the answer was to go down, maybe if Bjarne Pedersen had gone down the Spinka would have excluded Lee Richardson. Was it only me or is Pearson getting more full of his own self importance. All this crap about 1st bend bunching is a bit annoying. 'See I was right' and ' a number of refereees have said I have a point', who cares to be honest, his job is to commentate not massage his ego on screen. He is a fine commentator and I hope he sticks to that rather than telling us all how great he is Edited July 22, 2006 by Chris Brown

The man went apoplectic in the race-off about the 'first bend' stuff until Harris was involved in a similar situation and then suddenly went quiet on the subject. Have to praise the way that he plays his PR card for British domestic speedway in his commentary though.Never misses a chance to promote the league programme. When the alternative is Tony Millard though, Pearson suddenly becomes a star!!!
boxer123
TOO TRUE Deks!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well tonight the sword triumphed , Hans Andersen captain of the World Cup winners Edited July 22, 2006 by boxer123
RacerDon
I am no fan of hans andersen but that exclusion tonight was nothing short of daylight robbery. Sometimes referees take a riders reputation into consideration before making a decision. the exclusion was a terrible refereeing decision. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agree 100% Ruckeroo, I was pretty much in front of the riders as they approached the bend and Hans was clearly leading, but I never expected any other decision than the referee would exclude him, the crowd would have gone mental otherwise. I was absolutely anti towards Andersen at the start of the season, mainly on his performance in SWC at Poole, but really like him as a rider now, as to losing his temper then whilst not defending him it was perhaps understandable as it looked like giving the Aussies the initiative in the meeting, although in hindsight probably avoided Crump taking a 6 point ride in heat 20. Denmark were the best team on the night and Andersen and Crump looked a class above, shame Crumpy came off on last bend, he didn't deserve to finish off the rostrum. Philip Addison
it looked like giving the Aussies the initiative in the meeting, although in hindsight probably avoided Crump taking a 6 point ride in heat 20. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is a good point, would it have made a difference in the end ? Who knows ?, but still an interesting point.
Steve Shovlar
Bad ref decision. But so what? The Brits benefitted and put us on the rostrum, and thats good enough for me!
Custom House Kid
Have seen it several times in slow replay, and I could not see any faults of Hans here. Chris, the acter, Harris just laid down the bike and the ref. got fooled. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sh*t Happens
Chivs
Whether you like him or not - Hans Andersen is needed in Speedway. Everyone loves a bad boy in the sport, and to be fair to him tonight the referee's decision was a terrible one. One thing that I think he does need to watch is the way he celebrates afterwards. Part of his job is to take a bit of stick, but the way he celebrates can rub people up the wrong way. He is class. Whether he goes on to become World Champion depends on if he stays injury free - but with the list of riders who he has had clashes with - that could end up being his biggest problem. One thing is certain - he owes BSI a lot. He became too comfy and the dropping from the GP series make him sharpen his act up - cos if they hadnt of dropped him this year he would be nowhere near the level he is now
boxer123
well these things even themselves out in the end , it didnt affect the final result
Sloop
Sh*t Happens <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it does. But would you not prefer to gain points by legitimate means rather than from a blatantly wrong refereeing decision ? If Harris was a footballer, he'd have got a yellow card for that dive
Pollyanna
( Bad ref decision. But so what? The Brits benefitted and put us on the rostrum, and thats good enough for me! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ) The Brits got onto the rostrum because Crump threw it in the last race. He was on a Joker and would have got 4 points and the Aussies would have been 2nd. tonight, the Swedes 3rd. and the Brits 4th.
GeneralMelchett
live by the sword, die by the sword...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What goes around comes around yes bobbins decision, however it all worked out allright in the end for the lad, which i'm sure makes a few people sick on here. Shortcrust
so you would rather have that prat known as Tony Millard commentating?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd rather have neither of them!! Bring back Dave Lanning, all is forgiven.
lupus
Personally YES! I agree with the person who said Pearson is so full of his own importance - who CARES whether HE thought it was all 4 back or whatever - he's there to commentate on what's happening not treat us to the Gospel According to Pearson!
