lawman
Well done the GB Lads But the main point about tonight must be the state of the track IT WAS A DISGRACE and someone should go down to Reading in the morning and find the track man and snap his white stick and shoot his guide dog. On both Sunday and Tuesday they had the same problems with the hot weather but they prepared good race surfaces. The only thing missing tonite was some arabs comming through the dust on camels. This disgrace was an insult to speedway and its supporters who paid good money to attend such meetings which they look forward to only to go home looking like people in a minstrel show. I noticed that as at the recent Oxford meeting none of the comentry team condemed the condisions, I bet Sam Chris and Lord Tatum would have had something to say if they had been riding. I sugges that everyone who has to have their clothes cleaned should send the reciepts for cleaning to BSI at Reading Speedway for a refund. If we cant do better than this cock up we do not deserve to be allocated any big events. This is not the first time we have seen an ill prepared track , If they are not capable of doing a track properly they should ask someone for help. Mr Possthulwaite of what ever it is shpould be ashamed and get the big wedge out of his back pocket and buy some shale, perhaps as he owns Reading he does not know what shale is because they dont have it there. So he should look at a video of Tuesdays meeting to see what it is. If they don't put this right for Saturday Reading should stop all these fancy adverts on Sky for their meetings because no one will want to go and give BSI their cash. Star Lady
The track was diabolical. I don't really see how the weather can be used as an excuse. It was even hotter yesterday but Huggy prepared the Lynn track to a very high standard. No blue line, no dust and plenty of grip for passing. Maybe they should sack Mr Olsen and employ Huggy as race director
loyal royal
But was there a two practice in the afternoon at Lynn ?
DanTheMan
yep, it looked shocking
lawman
I appeciaye you are a loyal royal but the practices are no excuse if they enough compitant staff to do the job insead of an anorak who coughed at the right time and got the job. Dont make excuses these problems can be over come at some track and some run 2 meetings one after anothe 30 races without that debacle. lawman
Yes for about 7 years and with Stock Cars
loyal royal
Well it is a bit different for stock cars i would suggest. I spent 13 hours at the track today, not preparing the track i might add, and i can tell you, those guys worked their nuts off all day and were still there when i left at 11pm working on it. I think your insults are uncalled for.

fairy
Maybe thats how olsen wanted it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you could well be right, I think the feeling from the normal Reading staff, was there was too many chiefs........ and all with different opinions!!! 21st century heathen
There's no way to hide from the fact that the track was a bit of a joke tonight. Okay there may have been a practice this pm but that isn't the whole story. I've never been, and have only seen Reading on tv a couple of times. But when I have seen it there has been a blue groove, and you can actually see the smoke as the tyres burn. That is not speedway!!! Even Sam and Chris commented that the track shreds your tyres. I was going to the final on Saturday, but I'm genuinely not so sure now. I would be leaving mid-afternoon, and spending a few quid overall. Could I be bothered to watch riders try to balance the bike on a 2 foot wide strip of rubber? I really don't know.

lawman
Royal Loyal I did the track for Speedway After Stock Car Meeting I was Paid By The Speedway Promotor. I am not being disrespect full about the staff but Maybe their responsabilities out weighed their caperbilitiews They needed someone like Bob Dugard to control the workers so they did not waste their time. Perhaps as you say they worked hard but I believe they need leadership. Their worst enemy would clearly be Ole Olsen The Sven of Speedway. Last Year if you remember at the Sweedish GP they layed a complete new race surface in about an hour, agreed they did not have 2 knackered tracktors and a water cart. Speedway Fanatic
The track was simply awful. Team GB struggled with it towards the middle of the meeting but didn't we do well!!
shalefan
I have read all the previous posts on this and have to say that being a regular at Smallmead last nights track was dreadful. To those that do not go to Reading everyweek I can assure you, up to last night the track preperation has been very good. Since about a month'ish after the season started they seemed to have got the track sorted. There has been a lot of passing and plenty of dirt all over. I cannot remember seeing so much dust this season as last night. A few Reading fans around me were also saying the same thing. I spoke to a guy from Oxford, stood in front of me before the meeting. He had not been to Reading for a number of years and there was I telling him they had got the track sorted now, DOH, slap back in my face or what. I can only think one thing here and it has already been said MR OLSEN step forward. He is renowed for this type of track. Did we not have a situation at one of last years GP's where they watered the track against his wishes in between a race and he went barmy at them. The funny thing was the very next race was superb. I really hope thay can get this sorted for tomorrow.
Bonsai Diamond
Its a shame that BSI cant change the venue to Peteboro or Arena because Reading is a disgrace.
