SCB
Who would you like to see as new Team GB manager as Middlo should do the decent thing and resign or the promoters appoint a new boss at the annual conference. Tim Sugar or Eric Boocock. I'd even consider Peter Oakes Edited July 22, 2006 by SCB
philcrumpisgod
Congratulations to Denmark, the best overall team on the night with a good kickstart from Puk in the last round of heats. For the Swedes, a decent all round team showing with only AJ really showing their best form. GB did well considering the lack of talent in depth, Scotty leading from the front, but with a lack of quality in depth it's difficult to see how much better a different team manager could make things. For the Aussies, a lacklustre show from Leigh and Ryan was what probably caused them to miss out at the top although I think Jason was a bit reckless in his last ride. Although he is an out and out racer, he was well beaten by Hans by the time his dive up the inside caused him to fall and he knew it judging by him punching the ground. Holding 2nd place would at least have given him and his team mates a silver medal, something Travis would probably have treasured. So, Hans the "panto villain" secures the last heat win and rubber stamps Denmark as the world champions. Well done to them! Star Lady
Did anyone else see that Nicki had his foot caught up either under Jonssons foot or his footrest during the home straight incident. Only clear from one camera angle but it explains all the bashing and banging. One thing that seems very odd to me. Why was Simon Stead not with Team GB in the pits? He helped get them there and he should have been there for the final. Rory Schlien was quite rightly with the Aussie team. Seems to reflect the lack of team spirit/national pride call it what you will. And the best laugh of the night, Nicki hollering the Danish anthem for all he was worth....absolutely priceless
rabbit
Another intriguing meeting with a bit of everything. If only the GPs and league matches were like this. Quality moments included Boycey looking straight to camera and saying 'that phone is a waste of time' or similar on Trav's exclusion and poor old sophie's face when Hans had his little hissy fit. Brilliant. Oh and some of the racing was good as well. As for VV - I've vowed not to respond to his weasely whining any more. So I won't. There were hundreds of them! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And the experience may well stand them in good stead (no pun intended) in future years. Whereas the GB pits were completely barren of young Brits. Mmmmm now is that because the GB high ups don't invite them or cos the young Brits can't be bothered? Or both! Just typifies the difference in attitudes IMO. EDIT Watto, Woodward, Schlein and Johno i noticed tonight Pretty sure we spotted Trevor Harding as well Edited July 22, 2006 by Star Lady
Rob B
One of the most sporting things tonight had to be Jonsson letting Pedersen past after their big clash, don't think I've ever seen a rider move his head telling him to go back past after something like that before. Ross
Thought we did quite well after the blip of going 7 races with was it 2 or 3 points in return. Apart from Scott you are never quite sure what you are going to get from them could be a stunning win or a last out of the gate trail round for four laps kind of ride. At the moment we don`t have the quality of the other countries, so for the next 3 or 4 years its a case of making the most of what we have got. oh, what about King Kelivin for next manager of GB?? Sandie
yeah i saw that ... thought she'd just dropped her sweets down her bra <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No - she kept her phone down there! (Truth!) Anyway, enough of all this.Lets get to the important bit.Did the Fairies get their fizzoggs on tele <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well thats suprising for two reasons - Firstly there were loads more people there for the camera's to laugh at and Secondly - I thought we looked really miserable for 1/2 the meeting and therefore not a good advertisment for speedway! Apart from Nikki of course who did her Go Team GB bit at the beginning!

Private Dancer
A very good Swc final. The Hans Andersen/ Chris Harris incident was somewhat unfair to Hans, as all the replays clearly had no contact with Chris bailing out. For allof those who were demanding Chris Louis to be there in the line up. Well i personally felt Chris Louis was outstanding ( in his racing suit) My god he was sooo bad, he only got second place in his last ride (three riders only) because Charlie Gjedde lost control of his bike. Lets face it Chris WAS a great rider a few years ago, but not now. To me Team GB were for most of the meeting were a one man team. Scott Nicholls without him we would of been nowhere near. And we can thank Jason Crump in falling off in his last ride, to save us all from the blushes of being placed forth. I would like to see some positive actions come from this. Firstly i would like to see everyone in Team Gb to remain positive, to only think of winning. Get every british rider and i mean EVERY british rider to improve their gating skills. In order to win and to be focused to win we need to be in a winning position, not at the back, not in third, but second or first especially out from the gate. So i take my hat off to the Danes, who were the best team on the night. I think Team GB showed plenty of spirit in coming back the way they did, but that was down mainly to Scott Nicholls. Sweden also made a comeback in the later stages. So things need to be learnt from this experience. They have already learnt the mental approach, which in it self is fantastic. Gating now must be the number ONE priority!! And finally Team GB did their best, but they could do better next time with the implemented practice and improvement. Good Luck in that

Beercellar - I accept your humble apology! Fans are very quick to judge a Dane when he is involved but when a Brit is involved it is always the Danes fault, er no!
