Trees
Really glad I went to Reading even though I had to endure a busy M25 and M4. There's nothing like being at a meeting, watching on SKY is good but not that good! The stadium was fine, viewing good (most important!), track ok for a few heats but dried out VERY quickly, clouds of dust billowed over the fans on the bends because AS USUAL the track staff were not allowed to keep on top of the conditions, that annoys me so much, on a sweltering day that damn track needed watering very regularly, can't possibly allow enough time for that ........... that would never do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so bad that when Ulamek fell off you literally couldn't see him for dust and I was only standing on the exit to the 4th bend! All that really mattered on the day was that TeamGB qualified for the final, they rode out of their skins, really put themselves out, great to support, great to see! I wish them all the best for the final, if nothing else we know they will be giving it everything! A little mention for Billy Janniro after he'd held off our public enemy number 1 (deserved imo ) to have that ef, just shows what he can do doesn't it!!! Also Tomas Gollob, GREAT to see him back in this country and very glad that he won the last heat, when will we see him do that in the UK again eh?! Two laps with the bowser is not enough. Track work had to stop by 7pm to facillitate the parade etc and then you have to wait until after heat 5. Over ah hour in searing heat without water. Then you get a couple of laps watering and have to get on with it again. Nigh on impossible unless you start with a very wet track it just aint gonna happen. Vincent Vega
F4E I was watching the closing credits last night and they showed a woman with a hat on and a Union Jack guitar in her hand. Star Fever
Why are people complaining? Would they have preferred lots of dirt down running the risk of the Poles reveling in track conditions? or a slick track to guarantee Brit qualification? Ironically I think a pile of dirt is an absolute must for Saturday with the likes of Loramski, Bomber, Steady and Scott in the team ......GB will lose a gating competition 9 times out of ten when the Danes and Swedes are involved <{POST_SNAPBACK}> People are complaining I'd guess because the track didnt produce the racing it could have done - and it wasnt only the Poles that suffered as apart from Richardson the rest of team GB are racers. Even the Danes were stuffed if they missed the gate yet they're quite capable of passing on a decent track too. Surely its better to see all 4 riders have a chance of coming from the back on a track with several racing lines on a properly prepared track like we saw at Rybnik (in particular) and Malilla? As I've said earlier the Lynn track the previous night (also after a day of scorching heat) was perfectly prepared. I'm sure ALL of the riders would have preferred the meeting there - but of course that has no BSI connection...... (who said yippee?) superjoe
surely the strangest decision in swc history to put Richardson on a joker ride against Hancock, home track specialist and one of the best riders in the wc so far, Jarek Hampel, Polands best rider up to that point and Charlie Gjedde, another home track rider, why not give it to Nicholls in the next race against Denmarks worst rider on the night Iversen and Ronnie Correy, was always llikely to be 4 points at worst. Middlo needs to be more on the ball on saturday

That crash scared me for a few minutes. It was clear to see the bike hit his head, and we've seen the damage that can do just last week. There was no mention on Sky as to whether or not he was okay, and they went straight from the live action of Scott/Billy, to the replay. It was a while before they showed him walk away. He looked pretty dazed and confussed afterwards when sitting in the pits. Chris and Scott were the pick of the bunch. A few good rces here and there, but it was crap overall. A terrible advert for the sport that will not encourage one new fan. Poland made a huge mistake in naming both JK and KK. Had they gone for fully fit riders they would probably have caught us, and taken our place in the final. The Danes did their job, we battled hard to grab our spot, and it has to be said that the Americans were pretty poor. Billy J got going towards the end, but Billy H was crap on a track that suited him about as much as it did the Brits. Greg has been the best rider on show so far. DartfordHammer
Greg has been the best rider on show so far. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I feel a bit sorry for Greg, he's been brilliant all season, in the GP's as well as the leagues. Just a shame he didn't get the backup he needed, because he's a rider who deserves to be in an event as big as the Speedway World Cup Final. Star Fever
By newbieoldboy And was OO in charge of prepairing the Lynn track??? 'Course not - but presumably he was 'in charge' at Rybnik/ Malilla too? He didn't mess them up so (if it had been at Lynn) dare say that wouldn't have been messed up either. In other words, its whats there to start with thats important - so Reading was a bad idea from the outset I'd have thought....

Vincent Vega
I know this completely off topic but I was watching an old video the other day Eastbourne v Cradley 1994 cup final and down at Arlington Bryn was interviewing some Heathens fans after they sung Abide With me. Was you with the Heathens fans that day?
21st century heathen
Nope. Not been down to Eastie. If memory serves that was the year that we qualified for the final in July, but had to wait until Oct for the other semi to be settled. Our leg was rained off, and we ended up racing at home on the 31st Oct. I think it was a Monday and because it was the last day of the season we had to race despite the fact that it p!$$3d it down. We had to use saw dust to soak up the water, and if I remember right we won by about 4 on the night, but lost on aggregate. Way, way OT. PM me if you like.
