BossMan
Fantastic bit of team riding by Janniro there, did us a massive favour. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, great, fantastic we are in the final. However I seem to remember mistakes by the manager costing us before and feel this happened again tonight. Joker should have been given to Loram in heat 18, always looked easier than heat 19. Also hope there is no demise in Stead’s confidence after being replaced twice??????
Ace no.5
I totally agree BM. Tactical knowledge was non-existant AGAIN tonight! Heat 18 or Heat 20 would have been better for the tactical. At least a second was expected in both races! Did Middlo really think Lee could beat Hancock?! Then there was also 2 very decent riders in Hampel and Gjedde to consider (none of whom ran a last place tonight...!) What the hell was he thinking?! As soon as Lee didn't make the gate that was that! And I also hope Steady's confidence is not down, as he has not run a last place yet in this SWC. To take him out twice tonight was a joke, the extra ride would have done him the world of good i'm sure. Killer Cat from Mars
I don't like the format for these World Team Cup matches - once Poland got behind they seemed to just rotate Gollob, Hampel and Ulamek in every race. They've got to scrap the double point joker and the Tactical Substitute and give each team a reserve that they can use in case of injuries. Then, with each rider taking his prgrammed rides, the best TEAM would win.
Bagpuss
Job done, although GB's gating tonight was atrocious and we are fortunate that it took Poland so long to get 'dialled in'. Unfortunately due to practice and scorching weather the track was poor tonight (I'm not a fan of blue groove racing) although there was some decent stuff early on. Hopefully the track will be grippier on Saturday to give us more of a chance, however if it is not I would consider replacing Stead with Louis who would have loved it out there tonight
caristom
The draw looks to have been favourable for Poland, since Red and Blue seem to be the helmet colours to have - inside gates early and outside gates later. The Danes look to have a very unfavourable draw: it could cost them dearly. This looks tough to call, but I'll go with Team GB to win, followed by Poland, Denmark and the USA - the Danes just never seem to come up with the goods at the SWC. They were heavily fancied last year, but would probably not have made the final had Crump been available to Australia in the race-off. Still, can't see anyone touching Australia on Saturday. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i m sitting here counting my money, how about you?
Star Fever
Unfortunately due to practice and scorching weather the track was poor tonight (I'm not a fan of blue groove racing) although there was some decent stuff early on. Strange that, considering it was just as scorching yesterday yet the Lynn track was prepared perfectly with plenty of shale
Bagpuss
I thought that but didn't want to say it I think it was more to do with practice to be honest.
loyal royal
Strange that, considering it was just as scorching yesterday yet the Lynn track was prepared perfectly with plenty of shale <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I expect your man at Lynn spent all day doing the track ? The Reading guys had 3 and a half hours to pepare. This included having to clean all the air fences etc. Track wasnt good but it certainly wasnt the fault of the staff ! Bagpuss
As I said, it was mainly because of the practice! Not blaming the track staff at all.
Star Fever
I thought that but didn't want to say it I think it was more to do with practice to be honest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm - maybe By Loyal royal I expect your man at Lynn spent all day doing the track ? The Reading guys had 3 and a half hours to pepare. But after 10 races at Lynn last night the track was as good as new again after the interval (about 20 mins) However do agree that not enough thought was given by the organisers into track prep in the first place, so yes - not the track staff's fault, they can only work with what's set before them I suppose, silk purse/ sow's ear etc etc

Somebody on another thread is having a right old go at the track staff, personal insults and everything.
Sloop
Fact is, for a major event (or even a minor one), the track was pathetic and little attempt seemed to be made during the meeting to make it any better
spook
Why are people complaining? Would they have preferred lots of dirt down running the risk of the Poles reveling in track conditions? or a slick track to guarantee Brit qualification? Ironically I think a pile of dirt is an absolute must for Saturday with the likes of Loramski, Bomber, Steady and Scott in the team ......GB will lose a gating competition 9 times out of ten when the Danes and Swedes are involved
frigbo
Considering it was a major event, i have to say that both the track and stadium did little to enhance Speedway's fragile reputation. The track looked to be one of the worst I have ever seen.
Seb the Snail
Considering it was a major event, i have to say that both the track and stadium did little to enhance Speedway's fragile reputation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Totally agree. The difference in the standard of racing from Sunday through to Thursday was staggering with responsibility falling squarely on the condition of the track. The World Cup Final deserves better; sadly I don't think that it will get it.
Sir Jasper
The track was indeed awful. Well done to the boys, and can we have a bit of dirt down for the fianl please.
BobC
Some thoughts from being at the event. RIP OFF in every respect. Car park, normally £1,was £2.Arrive late and park at the Football ground, some were only being charged £1. Programmes.£5 Only included Swedish Round 2,and Play off and Final.Polish prog sold out,EXCEPT for one guy who had a few and was selling them for £10 each. The Stadium.A World Final arena?I dont think so at all.God only knows what people must think of British speedway. The parade: Who thought that rubbish out?Good to see them ride round as a team.Didnt even come out in any sort of order, and the gap,at one point between one team coming out and another was almost 3 minutes! Start Girls.Didnt have a clue what was happening at all! A member of the track staff had made an attempt to advise them.Totally ignored.Kevin Coomes then tried, and made a complete mess of it.Ie,he made the girls change flags, instead of reading the prog and changing gates as required.Thankfully, someone did make them see sense. Kevin Coomes. What a complete and utter pratt.Loves the sound of his own voice.Got a lot of things wrong all night long. The scoreboard is situated on bends 1/2.No Kevin,it is on turns3/4. Kept announcing the teams right up to 7.15,and then said 'these are the approximate teams for tonight'!You what? Please make use of all the refreshment stalls, situated ALL AROUND the stadium.Apart from the bog standard burger place, there was one events style van the 1st turn.Hardly suitable for a large gathering. Tried to do his 'Brighton Bonanza' style of getting the crowd going.Lets start with bend one.He was stood addressing turn3! and so on.Looked bemused when the cheers started up at the other end of the stadium! Made himself look and sound like a complete idiot. The track.Ok for a few heats but quickly became super slick, and dusty. Not a good advert for a sport the pertains to race on dirt/shale! John Postlewaite: Stop strutting round with that smug arrogant look about you.Do something for us,the paying public for a change.Your organisation is completely and utterly ripping the public off.If last night was your idea of a good overall presentation, then you need a lot of help.A very poor effort. So there you have it.My advice if going the Final on Saturday? Take out a mortgage. Take your own food and drink, unless you want to miss 3 or 4 heats while you queue up. Dont wear anything decent,as it will get covered in dust very quickly Dont try and follow the scoreboard,as that was frequently wrong. The best of British? Very very sadly way short of the mark. You have been warned....
