Rico
Ulamek at reading <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My thoughts exactly. Whilst he did ok tonight Colgate (Ulamek) must be rested on Thursday. I'd even use Jagus (who has never ridden the track) ahead of him. Rico
Rob B
Don't think the team will be changed at all.
crazysue
Although an Ippo and Louis fan, I would be rather apprenhensive of Chris being relied on. Not sure why but he has recently not had good showings on such high a level, yes he has in league meetings but this is completely different. It feels rather judas saying that but that is my feeling and I shall now await my slap from Tabby,Robyn and Shazzy!!
Meowmix
Don't think Stead rode Smallmead in 2005, but his 2004 showing there when considered one of the top PL riders wasn't inspiring. 17/09/2004 3 1 4 0 = 8 Beaten by Appleton, Bird, Morris & Zagar Although Bird is good around smallmead, I'm not sure he's good enough for the SWC. If the Danes go straight into the final after Tuesday meeting I'd go with Louis for the race off. He'd would probably get the better of all the yanks bar Hancock, same with the swedes bar Jonsson and on par if not better than the poles. andy moore
What about Kennett for the race off he knows Smallmead really well and drop Stead, maybe put Louis or Bird in for Bomber as well- looks like Middlo has some hard decisions to make in the next few days if we are going to get into the final. shazzybird
I shall now await my slap from Tabby,Robyn and Shazzy!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, if he doesn't ride maybe he can show us the track and at times flashing his butt at the camera What about Kennett for the race off he knows Smallmead really well and drop Stead, maybe put Louis or Bird in for Bomber as well- looks like Middlo has some hard decisions to make in the next few days if we are going to get into the final. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmmmmm as much as I'd love to see Edward ride really think this is a tough call, what about Havvy? or Floppy or just leave the team as it is. Middlo I love ya, whatever team you put in they will ride their best (damned if you do, damned if you don't) Good Luck Thursday
Grachan
Danny Bird in the GB team? Do me a favour! I'd pick Olly Allen over Bird. There's a big difference between doing well in the Premier League and doing well in a World Cup Race Off. It would be far to big a gamble to put in a PL rider - even one who knows the track - over the established internationals currently in the side. Chris Louis is a possiblity for either Harris or Stead. Other than that, I'd leave the team well alone. Once Bird has proved himself in the EL, then maybe consider him. Mr Snackette
Horses for courses. The Aussies, who remember won the meeting, will not be relying on team that got them to the Final, as Schlien will almost certainly be replaced by McGowan. In the same way, the choice of Stead for Rybnik was absolutely the right one, and the choice of Louis for Stead is clearly right for Smallmead. I'm sure Middlo will do the right thing. ouch
Smallmead league scores this season, excluding double points for tactical rides:- Loram 13(6) & 10(5) Nicholls 11(5) Harris 9+2(5) Richardson 6(5) & 9(5), also 13+1(5) in KO Cup Stead 6(4) Louis R/R & 11(5) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The last time Team GB rode at Smallmead Loram scored 7/5, Richardson a 10/5, oh and Louis 1/4. Ouch. If the track is prepared to Steadys liking, all the Brits will do well. I still say it's in our hands to give us an advantage.
willp
I cannot see how middlo can change the team. Danny bird in the team, do me a favour. I think he is only in the squad incase off the dreaded injuries. I've nothing against the lad but come on, this is the world cup and he would be riding against top riders in every heat. I don't think a premier league rider should really be considered for a world cup. Keep the team the same, ok steady may not be the best round reading but get a bit of dirt on the track and you never know. Rememeber he is riding for his country so he may do better. Whoever rides, get behind them, whether you like them or not. Come On TEAM GB!
Eastie
That's classic <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kennet got 13 from 6 only last week at Reading Norris got 12 from 6 earlier in the season
shazzybird
Not being funny Eastie as I am an Edward Kennett fan but is that consistent enough of Ed to warrant a place in TEAM GB this season? If he doesn't make the jump to Elite League soon and stay there he could miss the boat so to speak.
Chris
Don't think Eastie meant Ed should be in the team, nor do I for that matter, but questioning why Silver Cheetah is laughing. Was he looking at Oxfords league position when making that post? Oh and by the way Shazzy he is in the EL and has been for about 6 weeks now. Started to score nicely now as well. newbieoldboy
Sorry, Chris Harris out and Chris Louis in 'Bomber' is not as good a louis around smallmead <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But he's better than Stead
newbieoldboy
The last time Team GB rode at Smallmead Loram scored 7/5, Richardson a 10/5, oh and Louis 1/4. Ouch. In a meaningless match that was the first time Chris had ridden a bike since the end of last season. If the track is prepared to Steadys liking, all the Brits will do well. But it won't be. Ole Olsen will make it slick and neutral like he always does. Danny bird in the team, do me a favour. I think he is only in the squad incase off the dreaded injuries. But he still rode faster around Reading last year than any Brit has done this year!

greybear
You can argue all you like about this but the team should remain unchanged unless there is a really obvious weakness in the line up. I don't think there is. Another thing is that riding in the SWC is surely much more intense than riding in any league match or international challenge irrespective of the track. As long as all the Team GB riders have the correct mental attitude, I feel they will make the final & then they have got nothing to lose. Before the tournament began I don't think anybody really expected us to win - the Danes seem to be most people's favourites - if the GB riders really believe in their hearts that they are capable of winning it could happen, if they ride to their potential & more importantly they ride for each other
