AndyM
Andy, I have made some modest contributions to the modern day sport of speedway. Being rebuffed is not something I have experienced to be honest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jim, sorry for this exchange - I certainly don't want to fall out with you. I hope we can both contribute in our small ways to a brighter future for speedway.
Subedei
I've never offered or been asked to contribute to speedway, which is just as well, since I've nothing to offer. That said, when all the talk was of asphalting or concreting the track at Brandon, I thought I might be in with a shout. As for Middlo, it's obvious that he has his critics who he'll never be able to convince and his defenders who'll never desert him.

But, I don't think there's much chance of a revival of the Middlo hair.
lazyrider
I cannot stand NM one little bit,as he has a persona that i find cannot be trusted.Hey but that is just my personal opinion. He does not ride the bikes,he just picks the team.It is not his fault that team GB has not got a cat in hells chance of becoming world champions, they are just not good enough. It is a sad fact that there are next to no training facilities for up and coming young Brits. That is the problem that needs addressing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i got my son a 250 jawa and he can only ride once a month at abc meetings at scunny no one will give him rides as he is only 13 .so lets have some track time for the young ones of this sport, with out traveling 700miles for 2 rides

Cheekee Raylee Monkee
The fact is that when you compare the set up in England for giving kids an opportunity compared to places like Denmark & Sweden - well there is no comparison. Â I know that times have very much changed, but when I think about the old British League Division 2 and how it produced the GB/England teams of the golden time for our international success in the 1970's and early 1980's and then think about the state of our domstic setup now, I could weep. Â The conference league was a chance to retrieve things at least to some degree, but inevitably the British Promotors have mucked it up yet again. The league is now clearly not what it was supposed to be when it was created. Â Then we had the good idea in the Premier league of the graded reserves to 'promote opportunities for young British riders'. As soon as there are signs of success (messrs Boxhall and Armstrong - and yes I know, Jon is hardly a youngster) the Promoters moved with uncharacteristic speed and decisiveness and punish those who were doing well. Â I've said before on another thread, we need a body to rule British speedway that does not include promoters (but consult with them). Only then will short termism and petty jealousy be avoided. Maybe then there will be a medium to long term plan that will help the sport in the UK. Â As for the crazy rules, continuous rule changes, special dispensations etc. - well, don't get me started. Â But I don't ever lose sight of the thrill that is 4 guys out there on the track shifting the shale !! So come what may, enjoy your speedway everyone. Its still a terrific thing. From PC to KC.
     Sven had players like GERRARD - BECKHAM - ROONEY - LAMPARD - TERRY - OWEN which is like Middlo have 6 players with 9 point plus averages . . but he doesnt   ,  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you mean 9 pts in the conference league, because don't delude yourself that any of those players are World class, they only ever achieve at local level, ie premiership, occasionally at Euro level, but NEVER WORLD. Lets face it at the moment we can't hack it internationally. The decline in the Grass track scene due to BSC "mad cow" stunted the best talent we had coming through, no one to follow in the steps of, JEM DONCASTER, SIMON CROSS, KELVIN TATUM, SIMON WIGG, MARVYN COX, ANDY SMITH, JOE SCREEN, PC , CHRIS MORTON, MARK LORAM , HAVVY, ETC ETC. Sadly we have no one to compare with born to be stars, MICHAEL LEE AND KENNY CARTER.
pirate paul
Dont kid yerselves people we have 2 chances of winning the SWC slim and none and slim just left town!!! Middlo is another SGE. Good at club level but cannot produce the goods at International level. This will be his 6th crack at the SWC and we wont beat the Danes, Poles or Swedes no chance. He doesnt pick riders in form look at Chris Louis he has beaten Crump at Belle Vue Andersen at Peterborough and Nikki Ped at Arlington in the last few weeks 3 world class riders. He has got a lot of experience of Polish tracks due to his GP appearances and regular Polish league racing in the 90s.  Sorry people but with Middlo in charge we aint got a hope in hell of winning the SWC it will turn out just like the football world cup full of false hope. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>   Getting worried yet VV? Subedei
Fair play to Middlo tonight - his team did him proud. But will this be just another noble failure at the end of the week?

rabbit
They did seem very aware that they'd been written off. Either they've been reading it Middlo has passed it on. Whatever it was, it worked. Just have to convince them they can do it on Thursday now.
shalefan
I'm not so sure that they have been reading the forum, maybe it's a case of just being a bit realistic at this moment in time. The boys done well and should be proud of there efforts. For the younger ones it's good experience and shows that they can do and are not that far off the pace. For the boys that did not get in the team they have seen again what it takes to compete at the very highest level.

Vincent Vega
Not worried at all Pirate Paul when it came to the crunch last night and we had to win races to go through we couldnt touch Adams and Crump. So a good effort by the boys but not good enough again as the manager cant make them go that extra yard.
shazzybird
Vega something seriously wrong with you just get behind the Brits like the rest of us and stop slating the team and team manager! Vincent Vega
Shazz  If you are happy with finishing second and not winning the SWC every year thats fine with me sweetheart.  Have a lovely evening treacle.  Your loving Vinnie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
shazzybird
With men like you around VV I'm always used to coming second  Yet if you think insulting them makes them ride better or manage a team better, you really are highly mistaken.
