Addy
Yes there are plenty of stadiums around that have much better amenities but that is not what speedway is about! I was in Denmark for the SWC rounds there and believe you me that left more than enough to be desired......... Trust me it was not pretty in Outrup! a few portaloos that we had to share with the men (YUK) and didn't even dare to stand on the top of the back straight as that looked straight down behind into the (what I can only assume was) make shift Gents! not a pretty view! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds like Big-gosh I don't know if I like the sounds of this place ... especially as someone told me tonight that it's not much bigger than the BV bar ... Tina
Tabs and Kev, I really don't have any fasination with men's toilets Didn't quite get into the ones at Swindon At Arena, well, yes I went right on in and came right on out again and only Tabs will know how embarrassing THAT one was Had quite a pleasant encounter in the toilets in the bar in Wroclaw though Not planning on visiting any more for a while (I hope!) Richard Tyrrell
So, with the first event happening at Reading next Thursday, is there any sign of some improvements for spectators on the back straight, or is it still a 'no go' area? andy moore
The back straight is open for about 500 fans at the SWC as long as the surface under the stand is changed, hopefully we will not be packed in like sardines now. Richard Tyrrell
Thats what I've been saying for years - it just needed some of those sleepers they took off the bends, to provide for some under cover terracing to give a bit of height onto the track. But, with their history, I doubt if it will be anything as good as that, though, even for a British Speedway showcase.
shalefan
I would just like to add that whilst many fans still have a go at the Reading track for being slick and in the past that has also come from Reading fans, overall this season the track conditions have been much better and racing has been a lot better. I only hope Thursday and Saturday are as entertaining as tonights meeting. I beleive BSI reckon they can get between 7000 - 8000 inside Smallmead (phew that's tight). One thing that makes me laugh with a lot of comments about the facilites at Smallmead that I read on here is, that whilst I agree the stadium has been let go now for sometime and is in need of repair which we all know will not happen due to the knew one coming, some of the stadiums mentioned have facilities that are not that clever either. Reason being is that most of the stadiums in this country are also ageing fast. Coventry's stadium I would say is probably a good shout for being the best. petes
I spoke to Mike Golding a few weeks ago, he told me that permission had indeed been granted to remove the stand on the back straight and ope it all up. Dont know whether it has happened though. I amn planning on getting there very early to make sure that I can see the racing, being a shortie of 5'5"!! Meowmix
Reading isn't like Wimborne rd Petes, the bends and home straight are banked and you get a good view from the track from pretty much anywhere.

loyal royal
Macd`s, burger king and kfc all within 5 min walk. Also the Madejski stadium car park is being used for parking, again a 5 min walk. I would suggest parking in there anyway even if you are early, its much quicker to get in and out of. Local paper says 3000 capacity, if 7000 turn up it could be fun. Whatever happens it will be packed and a great atmosphere. Track is good, passing inside and out, and certainly one of the more neutral tracks in the league. SCB
I see there only adult tickets left. No child or OAP tickets. So the child standing up is taking up more room than an adult then?
Gemini
so the child standing up is taking up more room than an adult then? Probably. They don't stand still do they?
SpeedwayTShirts
Are people just leaving it to get tickets on the day or should I get some online before? I've booked into the hotel at the football stadium for the Final on Saturday but don't want to get there and not be able to get in? Any advice Bart Edited July 20, 2006 by Superbart
Steve Shovlar
I haven't got a ticket either but will head up there and take my chances. Pretty sure anyone who turns up will get in. BSI won't want to turn away cash! If they do find the place full, they more the fool them for holding the event on an allotment. Worst stadium in the elite league by quite some distance, with a very small capacity. Shame I can't make it on Saturday, but if Team GB do sail through tonight, then if I was aiming to go I would buy my ticket this evening at the "stadium".
