pirate paul
Absolutely gutted for Antonio. Twice in a week he is leading in a final when the race is stopped. Admittedly Hancock rode superbly in the final but that shows his experience. Anton will do well to learn from him.
ZoeS
A great ride and a great victory for a truely deserving rider! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats the 2nd time that poor antonio has been 1st and they have had to re-run it n then he ends up cumin 2nd!! Poor guy!! He put so much effort into tonight, hopefully he will put just as much effort in his riding at poole on thursday!

andy moore
Was it a poor decision by the ref should it have been all four back in the final ?
Steve Shovlar
Forgot to mention that Hancock shouldn't have even been in the final. In his semi it was clear to see that both wheels went over the white line on the second bend. Really suprised more wasn't made of it by Zagar. Silver Bee
I thought Kjastas Puodzuks (they spelt his name wrong all night ) rode well for his points tonight and was never off the pace. Well done.
Rob B
Is there a water drought in Latvia at the moment? That track looked like it hadn't been watered all day! Can't understand how it could be so deep for practise and then like concrete on race day. Good job the base rutted up else it would of been follow the leader. rabbit
...and there was more overtaking this evening than when I went to Poole, or Reading this season, THEY were awful meetings, this GP wasn't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah that's just cos your lot were crap that night. Tonight got better - I've seen worse. Felt sorry for Antonio but that was a mistake down to inexperience, you could see what Hancock was trying to do riding the wide line. as soon as he goaded Anton off the inside, he snuck down the gap. He's young, he'll learn. Good to see Scotty riding well despite his injury. There's still time to salvage a top 8 place. As for poor old Rico, think it's back to the drawing board for '07. He put so much effort into tonight, hopefully he will put just as much effort in his riding at poole on thursday! and whats to say Greg would not have reeled in Antonio in as he did in the re-run? As it was, Antonio made the gate and had the race sorted until he drifted wide on the 2nd bend and Greg Hancock pounced!! You don't give a rider like Greg and inch let alone 6 foot!! Stunnig perfomance by Antonio too and TBF, he was the best rider on the night but Greg has IMO deserved a win all year and I doubt anyone would begrudge him this win, Antonio certainly didn't, he seemed to find it slightly amussing to his credit. Wildcats2006
i thought the best bit is where tony mallard choked on his own spit then asked kelvin to carry on for him whilst he nearly choked to death must admit the track was c**p , they could of raced in the stadium car park and had better racing

willp
I've got to say the track was crap, only one real line on the white line. Really pleased for greg, he's a lovely guy and he did a great move on antonio in the final. also a mention for scotty, rode his heart out dispite riding with a collorbone injury, better than some other brit! i respect any rider who gets on a speedway bike but rico is just taking the biscuit at the moment. i think a year away from the gp's may help him next year. Reviresco
So, BSI have carried out their promise of presenting GP meetings in top class stadia, in big cities and on well prepared tracks.........? On the other hand I suppose the riders should be able to ride on all sorts of tracks and surfaces, including flat, unbanked, slick affairs like the one on offer tonight. I guess that's why we have a GP series rather than a one off final these days? Must say, the totty was top class tonight though. Not just at the tapes either. How much is a return weekend ticket to Latvia?

Papa Bazarou
Well I may be alone in saying this, but I didn't mind tonights GP. A win bet of £5 win for Hancock from William Hill at 9-1 might have something to do with that ! £50 notes thankyou kindly ! Well done Greg. Yes the track was slick, and rutty but the brave and the wily (sp. ?) could exploit the conditions and makes some passes as we saw. Correct 4 in the final, Zagar also would have been worthy of a place. AJ most exiting rider as on many occasions, but cannot gate for toffee thankfully, we need his exploits from the back to liven up the racing. Unlucky to be excluded in the final. Super 360 by Scotty, saved by the skid pan watering before the heat no doubt, a grippier track would have spat him out of the saddle and a trip to Brian Simpson. RE: THE SURFACE : East European tracks use a grey powdery shale, which when watered prodcues great dirt and racing. Look at Bydgoszcz you get a beautiful build up around the outside as the meeting goes on. Yesterday was allegedly like a ploughed field following rain. 2 hours of practice scrubs it off, then we have 24 hours of drying conditions. Ole is water averse as we know, so its no wonder it was rock hard. I say ditch the practice sessions, running the equivelant of 2 full meetings in 24 hours is too much for most tracks. When the conditions differ so much day on day, whats the point - whats gained ?
