As opposed to June when it'll be Euro 2008  . Seriously, isn't the football season all year long anyway, so it'll always clash with speedway? It seems to be. :(

But most fans will not be attending Euro 2008, only watching it on TV....as you say speedway clashes with football all the time, but if my team are at home in March the same day as Cardiff, it will be a difficult situation.......keep it June i say....

Easter weekend would be good if it has to be staged that early.

A bit unfair on British League tracks though. The Easter weekend surely must be the best crowd wise all over the country. Having a GP would take away probably the most lucrative weekend of the season for many.

How about having it as the LAST meeting of the 2007 GP season..? That way we might for the first time in a LONG time get to see the World Championship decided on the day - it'll certainly have the World Championship trophy presented on that occasion something that can never happens at the early season normal Cardiff date.

By adding in just a couple more GPs (including say Russia…) the last one in '07 could be the 100th. wouldn’t it..? Sure we're talking September so possibly less warm than June and maybe on a par with March; but September always WAS World Championship time here in the UK..

As for suggesting London was never a 'proper' Speedway city..? How about consulting Norbold's book, then let's compare the number of tracks, meetings and paying spectators there's been in London over Speedway's history with the whole of Wales..??!! That's NOT any kind of dig against Cardiff, Newport or Wales BTW..: just putting the comments about London (clearly NOT a popular place with the majority of folk on this Forum) in perspective.

Oh and before the Mildenhall fraternity rise up and have a go at me for posting on here (sorry if it’s “rambling” Messrs fentiger and tigerstripes) I AM entitled to make comments; and they are I think you find on subjects like these, somewhat more sensible than your nasty jibes..??!!

For whatever reasons affect when the Easter weekend falls, it's going to happen in 2008 at the earliest ever date I can remember with Easter Sunday being on March 23rd ... perhaps BSI have their eye on turning the 100th GP into an Easter festival.

At least that would give Newport the chance to start earlier on Good Friday for their "eve-of-GP" meeting because otherwise on a working-Friday in March, they'd have to start at either 4pm or 5pm (depending on whether the clocks had already gone forward) due to their lack of floodlights.

But overall, I'd reckon it was a big gamble by BSI to ditch their regular 40,000 turnout in June in favour of an earlier date that won't be so attractive in terms of weather.

Honestly, Parsloes, you're getting really boring still whinging about this 'nasty jibe' business, all I did was make a tongue-in-cheek comment in the CL thread!!! In which, I note, you have tried to remove all your subsequent postings!!!!

Anyway, I never said you weren't entitled to post. Why would I say that, it's not my decision to make and never did I claim that it was!! Let me re-iterate, I simply pm'dn you in response to one you sent me and in that pm I told you not to pm me anymore.

For what it's worth, I agree you make a good point regarding the GP. Pity you have to spoil it with your rather tedious last paragraph, really!

Still, you do have a penchant for exaggeration, so it's little surprise to see that kind of closing remark by you........yawn......!!!!!

Crap idea! March, in the pubs etc trying to acvoid the rain, lack of atmosphere, people get to the stadum still wet and cold so the lack of atmosphere continues.

I'd stay at home, have some drinks from the fridge and watch the GP on tele.

being the 100th GP means bugger all to me, nor does the fact the winner will get some extra big prize fund.

King Jamie, my dad said the same :D

Er, well perhaps it had something to do with your comment (not at all 'malicious' I'm sure..??!!) in response to the thread asking people who their favourite posters are:

"Tigerstripes as he managed to get parsloes to stop posting his rubbish on the bsf"

A fairly clear indication that you think what I post is, er, "rubbish" and you don't want me to post on the BSF.

Time I think to bury the hatchet and I’m fully prepared to apologise for over-reacting; but I don’t think it’s right to claim that there weren’t postings deliberately aimed at trying to stop me posting and/or rubbishing my opinion on every subject…

I was just making a fair judgement from the information provided in the thread that you were arguing with tigerstipes in, not a malicious comment at all. Can we just end this because this has nothing to do with this topic at all and im not getting into any petty arguments with you.Chou.

I'm more interested in 2007 at the moment as I have plans to make.

Will the date go back to the usual second Saturday in June, presuming this year it was moved because of the football World Cup?

From the Football Associaion of Wales web site

Saturday 02nd June 2007 - EURO 2008 Qualifiers

Wales v Czech Republic

Saturday 08th September 2007 - EURO 2008 Qualifiers

Wales v Germany

So it looks like 9th June - the speculation that Cardiff should be the last GP well it wont be on 8th Sept.

Suggestions of an "early" GP at Cardiff in 2008 tie in with suggestions on the Australian speedway discussion list in the last few days that BSI are looking to hold the first 2008 GP indoors at the Telstra Dome, Melbourne, 24 Feb 2008; the second in the USA on 1 March; and the 3rd at Cardiff on 8 or 15 March 2008.

We shall see.

Hmm...a cold and possibly wet weekend in March, or a warm June weekend. I'm with SCB, if this goes ahead I think I'll stay at home. Don't give 2 hoots if it's the 100th or the 97th, or if the winners get more - it's about the whole experience. Why change a winning formula? Besides I just don't do cold weather.

Thank you. That will suit me just fine. :approve:

Surely any speculation Down Under about a Feb-2008 GP in Melbourne swiftly followed by an American GP before a March GP in Cardiff doesn't add up to BSI's ambitions for Cardiff to be the 100th all-time GP ? !!

It's 89 GP's at the end of this year ... and presumably 10 again next year to set-up the 100th at Cardiff to kick-off 2008.

So where do Melbourne and the Yanks fit-in ? ... 99-A and 99-B on the all-time list so that Cardiff still gets regarded as the 100th

If thats true, it would not be the 100th GP then

Just a "small" problem with the date for Melbourne's Telstra Dome (Docklands). At that time of the year the AFL holds the pre-season cup matches, the best clashes being held at Docklands

Nevertheless, I would be the first to applaud any move to bring the circus back to the spiritual homeland of the 2004 (& 2006 ) World Champion
