Steve Shovlar
I see that the 100th GP is to take place at Cardiff, as the first GP in March 2008! A dangerous move by BSI or one to get the season started with a bang?

Guest schumifan
It could just be to stop the GP coinciding with Euro 2008, after all a lot of speedway fans love their footie too and I'm sure many will be travelling to Austria and Switzerland that weekend. I can't see it being a problem being in March and it could be a great start to the speedway season, although maybe a change in the traditional date will spoil the summer atmosphere for some people. Gemini
I'm more interested in 2007 at the moment as I have plans to make. Will the date go back to the usual second Saturday in June, presuming this year it was moved because of the football World Cup?
Ironside
after 2010 speedways spiritual home Wembley should just about be completed. can't wait for us to ditch Wales so we can descend on a proper Speedway city.

At Wembley, you got there and there was nothing to do in the day. Cardiff slap bang in the middle of the city, plenty to do, only one criticism the roads. Tigerblade
Don't get me wrong, I love the place, but when was London ever a "proper speedway city" ??
KevH
Don't get me wrong, I love the place, but when was London ever a "proper speedway city" ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When they had speedway racing five nights of the week.
Paulco
after 2010 speedways spiritual home Wembley should just about be completed.can't wait for us to ditch Wales so we can descend on a proper Speedway city. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nobody who spent a sunny saturday in a wonderful city like cardiff would want to lose that experience to wembly . And anyway its almost 30 years since us victorious jocks swung from the crossbars and dug up the pitch and they still havent finished rebuilding it But if they hold a GP in march will our domestic season have to begin in january so as to allow certain riders time to get their set-ups perfected . Bill leahy
MARCH: on the speedway side the stadium has a roof, no problem here, but would you want to spend a long weekend in Wales in March, just spent a great week in Porthcawl, kids had fun, we had a great rest, watched speedway at Newport, spent the whole week of the school holidays, wouldn't do that in March....on the football side of things and a lot of us speedway fans have football season tickets, if my team was at home and playing Man U or the likes would not be going to Cardiff....went to the carling cup the other year in late February, god it was freezing, drove in watched the game and drove home again, not the Cardiff, nothing much open, not the Cardiff experience I was used to............... dtc
cant see a gp in cardiffn march. th 6 nations will be on,the WRU will not let anything get in the way of that.
Addy
Not happy with that one. Every year we have beautiful sunshine and lots of fun in Cardiff. We've got all our respective fave spots ... in addition to the P of Wales. And London - hate to say I do try to avoid that place ... To busy, too crowded and too alienating. ... . Not much chance of us bringing the true Spirit of Speedway to the vast area of Londinium ... Cardiff is just the right size - to meet up, get around have fun, and have a group of merry party-goers on every corner. ... . I can't see the Poles making their usual amusing impact as they do in Cardiff. ... and March ! - the weather will be inclement. Bad idea! Hmmmmmm
Bill leahy
Yes Speedway star arrived this morning and does say bsi are looking to put the 100th Gp with a $100,000 purse on at Cardiff, "Where better to celabrate our 100th Gp than at the Millennium staduim" says John Poslethwaite......the idea might be good one, just a shame it happens to be March, and in the football season
Guest schumifan
just a shame it happens to be March, and in the football season <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As opposed to June when it'll be Euro 2008 . Seriously, isn't the football season all year long anyway, so it'll always clash with speedway? It seems to be.
Hazzman
There has never been an opening GP in March, so it would April. In between the break of Six Nations and Cup Finals.
