I'm a regular talkSPORT listener and often wonder why there is no inclusion of our great sport on this station. We have had several mentions over the last few years but no news, information, results etc which is a bit disappointing. Last night we had the GP with Nigel Pearson doing the Sky TV commentary. Nigel is now quite heavily involved with talkSPORT as a local football reporter, commentator and show host. He also mentioned on talkSPORT a couple of weeks ago when speaking about football at the Millenium Stadium that he would be back there with the GP. A 10 second news report followed by a dispatch from Nigel from the stadium on talkSPORT news would be great. Sky news is talkSPORT's official news partner, Nigel is speedway's press guru and he is well connected now with station. Does anybody know if anything is being done behind the scenes to see if we can get our sport properly represented on talkSPORT?

Whoops, just realised that this has ended up in the wrong section. 2 booboos by me this morning already, must be the euphoria from last night. Any chance it can be moved to the general section?

Although brief details would be nice, I think more can happen. A few years ago, they used to have a weekly phone-in programme on professional wrestling! If they can find time for a two-hour slot about grappling, they should be able to for speedway!

With Sky concentrating on the Elite League and Grand Prix series, it would be an ideal opportunity to bring us Premier and Conference League coverage (in addition to the EL and GPs). Does anyone remember Track Tapes and Raceway Recordings? Perhaps they could air meetings from tracks they've (Nigel Pearson? Gareth Rogers?) been to during the week. Maybe they could have a guest rider in the studio every week. I used to listen to the commentary on the Speedwaybet website, although I didn't bet! I'm sure there was quite a few people who tuned in without betting!

I don't know whether my ideas are realistic or not. I might be living in cloud cuckoo land, but something along the lines mentioned above would be great!

yes i used to listen to that wrestling show with Tommy Boyd but it was taken off air with no explanation why, they do have a tendancy to do that on that station.

They axe and hire presenters without so much a bye or leave.

I never listened to the wrestling programmes, but I think it stopped when Tommy Boyd got sacked. On another show he presented, he failed to cut off an abusive caller, and returned the gesture made to him. They were talking about the Royal Family, after the death of The Queen Mother. Click here to listen to it. (contains foul language).

What time did the programme go out? Was he really sacked for that???

Maybe he should have cut the idiot off, with the delay they have, but I bet it was a late night phone in and hardly think it was a sackable offence??? There is far worse stuff on TV after the watershed. I'd be really shocked if the reason he went was just due to this but you never know.

Most sport reports should cover speedway and it shocks me they don't, particularly the GP's. I would have thought more people attend speedway in this country than golf, tennis, boxing, formula one, darts and snooker which get pretty consistent press coverage. Hell, they've even got a fishing show on Talk Sport! I'd be interested to know if Nigel Pearson has done anything to get speedway up the agenda and been knocked back or if he's just wrapped up in the football like everyone else there seems to be?

I can't work out why the BSPA don't ever 'promote' themselves in a professional way. The fact that these club owners call themselves promoters is a joke.
