Cardiff Attendance

Recommended Posts

When I boughht my tickets I asked for seats on the home straight but they said there were none available! Obviously they decided to fill up the back straight first before selling home straight tickets.

I brought my tickets from the official ticket office in Cardiff on the saturday morning, there I was informed that there were only 4 segments left one in lower 2 in middle and one on the upper! I was astounished to fine so many vacant seats in all different areas.

Not if they put up another track like that. The meeting was interesting ONLY because the track broke up and ruts appeared on the racing line. Sorry but for what we are asked to pay to attend that is simply not good enough.

To me and you, we thought the track was a shambles and we don't enjoy "passing" ebcasue of them kind of mistakes but to the ordinary man on the street, he likes passing, however it's caused. Could BSI be onto something? I hope not as I don't like the idea of seeing riders lives put in even more danger to make it more exciting!!

BTW, don't matter where your tickets are for, sit in any empty seat you like! My ticket said gate 1, top tier about 3 rows from the back (2nd bend), I waked into gate 5 and up some stairs (but got to the hospitality suites!) eventually got to the top tier and walked around to the back row on the 3rd and 4th bend and sat where I wanted to sit!! Just pretend you know where you're going when a steward ask if you know where you're going! Don't look lost and they trust you!!!

In my eyes what boosted up the attendance was the large number of Poles who were there, maybe in co-ordinance with the mass influx of Poles coming to work here. Incredibly crap track, you could see the base after the junior races. The only reason it became interesting was it rutted up and riders made mistakers. That and AJ, Crump and AN Other great race. Gollob's outside swoop and Nicholls bringing the house down twice.

That the Poles gesturing to Hancock when poor old Hampel got the lead.

40,371

Surely such a specific figure must be the definitive answer. It has appeared in the Telegraph. I have seen many more hovering around the 45,000 and 41,000 mark. However none of them have been so exact.

So, is this the likely true attendance ?. Or does it just include paying customers ?.

Since this has probably come out of Phillip Rising at the press conference and via tomaszporl to this forum, I'd say this is the accurate amount of sold tickets.

Last year there were around 38750 people. That's around 2k more this year, so that make's it 60k £ more sales for BSI ?!

40,371 is the offical attendance. Add to this all the freeloaders and there was probably 45,000 in the stadium.

When you say freeloaders i presume you mean corporate guests and/or tickets that sponsors etc. receive. But, are these not included in the official attendance ?. Surely health and safety regulations require all people in the stadium to be accounted for ?. Or, is this the case and it's just that they don't physically enter via the turnstiles ?. Which would mean the crowd could indeed been as high as 45,000.

I'm not saying it is the case, indeed i wouldn't have thought so, but still seen several references to 50,000. However, i suppose that is explained by just one news source/agency coming up with that estimate which then gets passed on.
