5-1 2 THE ACES
I'm rather gutted that I can't be there this year. However, Everyone who is making the trip - ENJOY it!!!!
TigerWolf
My first trip there this year. Taking the whole family too. My youngest is only 1 so I dare say she might find it a bit loud! It can't be louder than the Honda Six racing around at The Thundersprint in Northwich a few weeks ago surely? She put up with that, just... She didnn't seem bothered by the bike noise at Monmore when we took her there so fingers crossed..... Weather is forecast to be hot and sunny so should be a top day out. MartynP
Just about to finish work then heading off to airport for flight down to Southampton, across to Dorset ready for minibus trip tomorrow morning before doing the reverse Sunday. I know there's a more direct route of getting from Yorkshire to Cardiff but don't like taking the easy option!!!

Glenn <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's loud, very loud. I have been Wembley Cup Finals, normal Speedway meetings, all sorts of sporting events. So it was no suprise to find out the British Grand Prix is the loudest sports event in Britain. The Stadium seems to amplify the bikes. I take earplugs or buy some on t'day. Does anyone know if theere's any bike parking at the stadium?
Finchy05
Loud Pfft ever been to the monaco GP - 22 cars hurtling through a street where the buildings echo the sound off Lovely! Cant bloody wait, leaving for Cardiff very soon, just updating the road angel for those bloody new cameras on the M25 and M4 See you all there guys
Steve Shovlar
Well that was easily the biggest speedway crowd at Cardiff by quite a few thousand. The upper tier is now really begining to fill up and give it a couple more years and that 62,500 will be a realistic target. certainly we would get the placed packed out faster if there was a decent Brit about bt at the moment nothing to get excited about. The meeting was interesting ONLY because the track broke up and ruts appeared on the racing line. Sorry but for what we are asked to pay to attend that is simply not good enough. I don't believe there was any more than 30-35000 there, all the crap about 40000 plus is spin IMO. Wonder what crowd the VAT man was given
lupus
Agree totally Chris - it was only becasue the track was c*** that anyone ever got past! Meredith is obvioulsy not up to the job - if you saw the match at BV last week, it appears the guy can't produce a good race track when it's a permenant track so what hope is there for a temporary one? Get Bob Dugard or Doc Bridgett to have a go - they can't do worse can they?!
Dekker
Meredith is obvioulsy not up to the jobSwindon is a perfect example of that.......... RIP one of the best racing tracks until it was screwed up.

Wonder what crowd the VAT man was given <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whilst I agree about the track being poor, I disagree about the attendance. If that crowd was 30-35,000, then in previous years they have been around the 20,000. There was a much bigger crowd yesterday, and by quite a lot. A couple of years ago the third tier down the back straight was very sparcely populated, with no one in the top 30 rows. Last night it was fans all the way to the very top, and although there were empty seats dotted about, it is still very good news that the crowds are growing well. Now if they can sort out that track........... Edited June 4, 2006 by Steve Shovlar
ruckerroo
Fully agree with chris brown. The tracks that are man made just seem to break up and rut, very little in the way of clean passes that were made without another riders error. Wolfsbane
One thing that surprises me when BSI are not known for being slow on the uptake. The top tier on the home straight 'BT' was sparsely populated and it's in full view of the most used TV camera angle yet the back straight top tier was' full'. Shouldn't it be the other way round, giving the 'full' impression to TV viewers? On the assumption that you can't force people where they choose to buy tickets, although I would have thought that the start/finish would be more popular, this seems strange. If folks really don't want these seats, they've never been occupied from my memory, then price them accordingly. Some £ss has got to be better than no £ss at all? not_on_terrestrial
50,000 PLUS according to IcWales. 40,000 says the Sunday Times (who incidentally have had two derogatory - with obligatory archaic views of the sport - articles in the run-up to the meeting). I guess somewhere in between. Certainly way above a previous quote on here of 30-35,000. Edited June 4, 2006 by not_on_terrestrial
not_on_terrestrial
.....Wonder what crowd the VAT man was given. This accusation of criminal behaviour is one of many that permeate this forum. Therefore, as i feel it is my duty as a good citizen to report crime, i have taken the following steps. I have collated all posts quoting these crimes that are alleged to have been committed. I have passed the details on to the various Police forces concerned and solicitors who act on behalf of BSI and the numerous promoters to have been slurred on here, or not, depending on the outcome. Also, as i am such a genial chap and am glad to save you time and work, i passed on the details of the posters making the allegations. Obviously they decided to fill up the back straight first before selling home straight tickets.
