Trick At The Millenium Stadium

Recommended Posts

Although I would like to see Jason carry on his current GP form and win in Cardiff, I don't particularly want to see Tony embarrass himself again. I don't believe a great champion like him should end his career on a such a low note if things continue like they have been for him. So the question is, do you think Tony will stir himself out of his lethargy and go down (or come out) fighting? Can (will) we see a champion's performance from him and the beginning of a fight to retain his crown. I believe he is certainly capable and wouldn't be surprised if he won. What do others think?

I also think he is capable and I have the utmost respect for Tony, I just think he has gone on for one season too many and unfortunately lost interest. It seems to be a case of "I've reached the top, there's nothing further to achieve".

Nice post PCiG...I've said my piece on Tricky and his attitude to the EL, but at the end of the day his record speaks for itself. And I've hated to see the immense presence he has been on the world scene reduced to an also ran. I sincerely hope to see the Tricky of old riding at Cardiff. It would be a fitting farewell for the guy. :)

If Trick has another disaster I really can see him pulling out of the series, I just can't see him finishing the series knowing he can only finish mid table at best. That would be a sad end to a brilliant career and I for one don't want to be present to see that happen.

A really good day out will be ruined if the ginger whinger wins, so I'll be cheering Trick, Pedersen, Hancock etc. etc.

I wonder if once again Crumps progression will depend on Adams and once again Leigh the lapdog throws an EF in favour of his buddy!

I don't particularly care what Trick does, he knows what he's got to do to catch up and is capable of doing so for sure. It's Adams I want to see getting in amongst the points this time or he can kiss his World (GP Series) Champion aspirations goodbye, come on man don't let yourself down in Cardiff ..............

My sentiments entirely. There is a huge gulf in the attitude and application that Adams and Rickardsson demonstrate to the Elite League. No one can fault Rickardsson's record, but I don't believe that he has won many friends in achieving it, at least away from Wimborne Road. Adams on the other hand always gives 100% whatever the occasion and is a true ambassador for the sport.

It is sad to see him currently languishing in 6th place having made the podium for the first time last year, and while I can see no way of him catching Jason and Nicki this year, a win in Cardiff would at least see him in with a chance of equalling last year's achievement.

Can't believe that Adams would do that ! If there is one thing almost certain, is an Aussie don't like being beaten, especially by another Aussie.

But I don't think Adams will ever be World Champ, sad really cos his league form is impeccable, but he, for whatever reason, can't do it in the GP's.

My 123 for Cardiff

Jason, Nicki, Greg, with Leigh 4th.

Colin :)

No matter what happens at Cardiff, or the following GP's, Tony is a great World Champion. One thing is for sure, if he regains his crown this year, who ever wins next year will be classed as a second rate champion buy some. A World Champion is a World Champion, and at the end of the series they deserve our support.

Jason, Nicki, Greg and Tomasz deserve their places at the moment I just hope that they all put as much effort into Cardiff as they have done so far.

But I still want a Brit winner more than anything else.

I am so looking forward to Cardiff this year. Each season the whole experience seems to get better and better. The City is fantastic with so much for the fans to do before venturing off to the Millenium Stadium. People harp on about Wembley and whether they would have speedway back.... but why? Wembley is a nostalgic notion of a bygone time. The Stadium is in North London in the middle of a horrid industrial estate.... what has it got to offer other than the stadium... whereas Cardiff has so much to do and see, it is a far superior venue. They could possibly use Wembley for a second British Round, but I wouldn't want to see the Main GP move away from Wales.

So as the countdown begins, who do you guys see as the Main Contenders for the British Grand Prix Championship. Crump is certainly riding high and couldn't possibly have as bad a GP as last year (three exclusions remember)... Pedersen will hopefully be fit and have enough ice-packs to see him through to the final (you cant take your eyes off him every time he is on track)... Hancock is proving that he is far from finished at the top level, whilst Adams could possibly get his first GP win of the season. Tony Rickardsson has had two disasterous rounds and really can't see where his season would go if he was to have another (maybe a premature retirement?)

The British fans will no doubt be lending plenty of encouragement for Nicholls, Richardson and Stead... and perhaps one of them will step up and give us a finalist to cheer. Although I was amused by a letter in the Evening Star this week that compared Scott Nicholls to be the British Speedway equivilant of Tim Henman!! (made me chuckle anyway)

does anybody else feel that maybe tony is thinking about getting through the series unscathed, therefore isn't giving it as much as he normally does.

He just doesn't look right when you see his interviews
