Holsted V Brovst

Recommended Posts

Well i guess British clubs could learn a thing or two here.Was a wet afternoon,but cleared up an hour or so before the start.Then about 15 minutes before the presentation a big black cloud came over and the heavens opened.It poured down for a good 30 mins.The riders came out to look at the track,then the staff went to work.Scraped off the slime and relayed a track.The meeting went ahead about 50 minutes later than planned :D

Den Staerke Partner

M.Risager bt J.Raun

Publics choice for best fighter P.Hougaard

Must say despite being sceptical about the meetings chances of going ahead the track staff done a great job and all the riders put on a fantastic show.It was hard to pick any riders as they all deserve praise,but Puk,Morten and Patrick Hougaard were superb.Kosciecha looked unbeatable in his first 3 heats,then in his 4th he gated then Puk came round the outside.After 2 laps Hougaard came through the inside then as Robert tried to stay with Patrick he lost control on the next bend and coasted home in last place.After that he couldn't regain the superiority he had in the early heats.The rain started again for the last few heats and i was really surprised they ran the "staerke partner" heat.

In Sweden they are really really good to take on a wet track and do it really good.

Just here in Eskilstuna we have 2 big tractors, a real blademachine, fresh matrial to lay on the track I belive every elite track has a good setup with machines and matrial to do the job with a wet track.

Have seen almost every Sky meeting since last year and the trackmachines is not impressive! Old things from the 50's looks its like and they arent doing the job with the track properly either. Its better to invest in good machines for the track as it pays of many times then the track can be re-laid after rain and not cancelled.

Its better for the promotors, riders and the most important thing the public who pays the entrance fee. As a person if you know that a track got god machinery and the weather is dull you feel it will be ok as the track got the real machinery to do the job after rain.

Yes,i must say i was impressed with both the track work and the riders.Never seen anything like it before.Even here in Germany,maybe because most tracks only have 1-3 meetings a year,they don't seem to know what to do when it rains apart from call it off.A few years back when i first started going to speedway here i went to a meeting on what was a pretty nice day,only to find out it had been called off about 4 or 5 days earlier.I have now seen meetings get called off here sometimes a week in advance :(

Seems there is a lot that can be learnt from some clubs/countries attitude.I was extremly lucky as i was thinking of turning round and going home,but i thought "I've taken a day off work and come this far i might as well get to the track" :D Last year for a big meeting at Güstrow in less rain i did turn back and made the right decision as it was cancelled!

Although I'm also impressed with the track work they do in Denmark and Scandinavia in general you are completely wrong with the Güstrow meeting last year. There was constant rain from the early morning and the track was completely covered. 10 minutes before the meeting it was uncovered but the rain continued heavily. There was no way the meeting could or should have been run and also the greatest track work wouldn't have made it possible. You were not even there so you should be careful what you write about a call-off that nearly ruined the club.

@TJI,

If you read what i said,i was comparing the rain that i was going through on my way to both tracks.Not at the tracks.The first paragraph is a general comparison,the second a specific couple of incidents where i had to make a decision...push on or turn back.On both occasions i made the right decision,so how you can say i am wrong is beyond me.
