Rickardsons Farewell

Recommended Posts

Is there ever an amount released as to what is actually earnt from a farewell meeting?

If all the money goes to TRick, then lets work it out.

4,000 x£17 =£68,000.

Plus programs

1500 x £6 = £9000.

So gross figures are £77,000 from yesterday, plus the sales of merchandising.

Less hire of the stadium, payment to riders for expenses, printing of programs, advertising etc.

A nice healthy lump sum. But my figures could be inaccurate

Sure we'll get over it.We can't sign everyone. :P Poles are often more trouble in the team than they're worth tbh with their home commitments.

As for not being wrong, is it worth the buzz leaking every bit of info you know? Spoils the fun I always found.

Look at Ole Olsen's farewell.

The difference was, apart from the awsome line-up, when Olsen retired, British speedway was loosing a genuine superstar.

And people came from all over the country to show their appreciation.

Must have been true, my dad could not stand Ole Olsen but he went to his farewell to see a good line up and to pay respect to a bloody good rider. Yet TRicks meeting, hardly inspiring, had it been then I'd have probably gone but I was not paying £17 to watch Boyce, Doyle, Tacey and Davidsson!

Stupid price for a programme - will be interested to hear how much is adverts and how much information.

In fairness F4E - the programme was very good - lots to read and no too many ads.

Well I might be in the minority

Positives included .................. Nikolai Klindt. Whilst the Danes have guys like this coming through we have no hope - at 17 he is awesome and riding the track like an expert, winding it on around the outside, cutting back and never settling for a place. Started riding at 5 years old and has worked his way up - it shows.

Spot on - the guy is a huge talent and it was a pleasure to watch him.

Rabbit no offense but you sit behind glass doing the scorechart and that's not the best place to watch and feel the action. Come and sit in the grandstand and enjoy the buzz!

And not only that Rabski, you can see another 1,000 spectators magically appear if you watch from the other side of the stadium.

Interesting that Matt Ford said today on the centre green that Klindt wasn't going anywhjere but Poole

He didn't say that Steve - he said he would be very surprised if he went elsewhere.

The same was said when the guy announced 40 points as the limit - he was bang on with that one.

I agree, he has made many "experts" on this forum look stupid.

Another, I know something that you don't merchant.

For once I am totally lost fro words.

heheheh flyin ryan you talk rubbish!

Others have said that before and ended up looking silly.

and why would that matter for a farewell? It's tax free. Or is this not an official farewell but just a dodgy way to take some money off the fans by TR/Poole?

Only asked out of interest stressyknickers  :P

Did anyone stay for the auction?

Oh bless!

I was there, strangely enough didn't bid on anything though and didn't take too much notice on what was going for what amount!

There were a lot bidding though and I had to advise Madamemuck not to keep waving her hands around or she was gonna end up buying something she didn't really want!

For info I recall the following items

The away team bibs signed by rider and TR were sold off, around £50 to 300 dependant on who they were from

Couple of signed TR helmets at around £280 .... pretty good as they were newish

And few TR bike/handlebar covers £40/20 from the past couple of seasons.....one of which is gracing my workshop and according to my daughter who is always there with me said "is that cool or what!" :o
