Sorry Hazzman I don't know when the next reunion is.  If I hear anything I will let you know.

Hi Gemini, here is some information for you or anyone interested regarding the "Leicester speedway supporters"group....there is a committee meeting at the start of the evening, followed by a social meeting which normally starts at 8.30-ish at the Ukrainian Club on the second wednesday of each month (next meeting on the 12th July) as I'm posting this, there are plans for a riders reunion this year....but it's in the very early stages and we can't commit to anything as yet....but I will post on here if anything is known....any questions I'll try and answer...if not.....I know a man that can ;)

My question to Ken would be are the Leicester group really any nearer to getting the Lions back on track than they were over 20 years ago? Has any progress been made?

I'm here Gem, & I, like all the other Lions fans live in hope. After seeing what's been achieved at Scunthorpe, Redcar & Plymouth I never say never, but having been involved with trying to get speedway back in Leicester, I can only assume that the three aforementioned places have councils who wanted speedway back. Sadly that isn't the case in Leicester in my experience.

I posted this on the Plymouth thread but it's certainly appropriate here..

Leicester Public: Can we have another mosque please?

Leicester Council: Of course you can, here, have two.

Leicester Public: Can we have a speedway track please?

Leicester Council: No, but you can have a mosque.

Leicester Public: But we don't want anymore mosques, we want a speedway track.

Leicester Council: Well we've listened to you, & we're here to represent the people who voted for us, & give the people of Leicester something that will guarantee we get voted in again at the next elections, so where would you like your new mosques?

Well in that case I have the simple yet obvious answer to our problem......get the council to build a very small mosque with a nice big banked shale covered carpark....simple yet effective :)
